Description
MIA IS IN THE CARE OF LURCHER LINK RESCUE.
Mia is estimated to be about 12 months-old. When she first arrived she was very underweight but is slowly regaining condition. She is about 24-25 inches to the shoulder and now weights 26kg.
Mia absolutely loves people - she is really cuddly and is an absolute favourite with our volunteer dog-walkers.
Mia was very full-on and boisterous when she first arrived at our rescue a few months ago, but she has improved greatly thanks to regular exercise and training, and is almost like a different dog. She rarely jumps up now and walks nicely on the lead (with a halti). She does still have the occasional crazy moment but that's to be expected from a young dog!
We don't know if Mia has ever lived in a home before, so may need toilet training. Mia is very people orientated and we think she will need her people to be around for much of the time - she would not be happy being left home alone for too long.
Mia seems fine with other dogs.
Untested with cats.
Mia is an unclaimed stray. She is one of the lucky ones - we had space for her when her time was up at the stray pound. Council stray dog pounds (where stray dogs are kept for 7 days to see if the owner will reclaim them) are all overflowing with unwanted dogs. Most have deliberately been abandoned. With the pressure on space many dogs are being euthanized after 7 days; if Lurcher Link hadn't stepped in this would have happened to Mia.
Sadly there are many more dogs that we cannot help. We really need more people to come forward and adopt or foster, so we can save more from the stray pounds. ADOPT DON'T SHOP!
