Description
Hera little girl U.K. second chance adoptions- Devon area Brixham ‘There’s no place like home...i wish’ In the words of the welfare & foster Hera is a second chance adoption after she was recently placed in foster care and has been able to show us better than we can ever say it just how ill-placed she was in her first home. Now Hera is happy & relieved. From the moment she arrived after her initial confusion poor girl, she has had not one single accident in the house taking herself out to toilet every time, she’s in love with the other resident dogs, Hera cuddles up to strangers including males on first meet as seen and has bonded seamlessly and immediately with every household member. She even sleeps with our respected resident mother-in-law every night. Hera has finally been given the opportunity to show who she is thanks to the thoroughly decent & empathetic family that stepped in to foster her st short 🇬🇧 notice. Without-further-ado- in the words of her foster parent Karen:- “Hera arrived at our house on Sunday 5 May , a scared, underweight, and dehydrated little girl, who had been removed from her owner . She also had fleas and worms. We had transferred her from her owners in a crate for safety, so when we got home we placed the crate in the garden and brought out our resident dogs. They all had a sniff about, and Hera looked comfy, so we opened the crate door . She wasn’t bothered by the investigation from one of our big girls , and very quickly trotted out of the door and up to the grass to wee. We all felt we would just leave her to it so she didn’t freak her out. We shouldn’t have worried. Within 20 minutes she was coming for strokes, loving an ear rub and under chin scratch. Within an hour and a half she was up on the sofa in the conservatory claiming a few toys. I believe whole hearted that she knew she was ok now. Safe. She ate her dinner at the same time as the other dogs , but in a seperate area. (They all have set spots where they eat ,away from each other). She has been drinking lots too. And not one accident in the house. That night , when my mum in law went to bed, she was closely followed by Hera, skipping up the stairs.! Mum asked if it was ok to have Hera in with her... of course we said yes. Well, in the morning, I was happily shocked. As I went down the stairs, a very excited Hera was running up and down the hallway to say good morning. She came for strokes, running back and forth. She is a delight. She had strokes from Billy , from me, then zoomies up to the garden!! A little treat training to sit , her breakfast (she’s being fed twice daily to encourage weight gain),and then a quiet ish morning for Hera. Not that she sits still for long. In the afternoon , a male friend visited, and I can’t deny I was a little worried. I had pre-warned him how to be around Hera.:... needn’t have worried. Hera was up on the sofa being fussed like she had known him forever. It is only Thursday and Hera grows daily. She has discovered a full love for toys. She eats well with a slow feeder as she inhales her food. She is no longer dehydrated, drinking beautifully , running between our 4 large water bowls. She has had only one accident indoors and that was a loose poo after we wormed her. She had tried to get to the door but didn’t make it . There has been nothing since. She loves attention, a loyal and faithful girl who will be fabulous company for a new family. We are now working on lead and harness desensitising.” Hera in three sentences A sensitive & blossoming soul who is putting her Bulgarian and previous UK home behind her. She is funny without trying to be - scurrying off with her great prize even though no one else is trying to take it :). She is delicate & elegant as well as young & spirited.
