About us
My kennel name is Gaelic for Pool of the Otter. Puildobhrain is a beautiful sea loch near where I live. I started competing with border collies in obedience shows 40 years ago. From this I moved on to competing for a little bit in the early stages of competitive agility and I also showed some of my dogs in the breed ring, qualifying one of my dogs for Crufts. At one stage I was on the committee of the Scottish Border Collie Club. I have run numerous dog training clubs in the different places I have lived in over the years. I have a first class honours certificate in dog obedience training from the British Institute of Professional Dog Trainers. I have also done part of the small animal behaviour counselling course at Southampton University. In addition, I have done a little work with sheep too. I am interested in border collies from both show and sheepdog lines. My dogs are renowned for their excellent temperaments - as well as their looks and high intelligence. My puppies are sought after across the UK and in any one litter pups may go to homes as far afield as Jersey, the south of England and Inverness. It is important to me that my pups find the right home for their own individual character and many owners keep in touch with me, sending me photos of their pup as it grows. I find that people also come back for a second pup on occasion, perhaps when the first one is a couple of years old. I breed black and white, tri-colour and red and white, with occasional blue merles, and sometimes people want a second pup of a different colour. I am also very interested in the holistic welfare of all animals and use my Reiki Master qualification to give pets hands on healing when required. This is a wonderful soothing and balancing energetic treatment and I find animals always respond so well to it. I have also undertaken training in Animal Communication and think that our pets have a lot to tell us - if only we could listen properly! In addition to all this I currently own a highland pony and have owned and bred cats, rabbits and guinea pigs in the past too.
