Meet Dave: Our Brainy and Energetic boy!
Dave is a highly intelligent and incredibly driven boy who came to us after struggling to bond with all members of his original family equally. Dave really enjoys spending time on long and exciting walks with his humans but he takes some time to build trust before he feels safe and secure with them.
Learning is Dave's passion and he really is a delight to train with. In fact, he will more than likely teach you just as much as you teach him, as our team has found! Dave is absolutely at his best and a great companion when he is appropriately stimulated. He is the type of dog who appreciates his personal space and so his forever family will need to accept that Dave, although looking like a cuddle monster, does prefer to take touch at his own pace.
Dave is on a specialised diet for his allergies, which suits him great and he really enjoys this.
What we are looking for in Dave's forever home:
- A Single Person Household: Dave will thrive in a one-to-one environment where someone will provide him with the attention and focus he needs to thrive.
- Experienced Home: Dave's intelligence and drive require an experienced owner who understands the demands of working breeds and is willing to fully commit to his needs. Dave will also need an owner who is willing to take things at his pace and enjoy building a strong and meaningful bond with their dog.
- No Other Furries: Dave also needs to be the only pet in the home as this is how he will thrive best and reach his true potential.
- Garden: A garden would be the perfect place for Dave to engage in stimulating activities and burn off some energy. Dave loves nothing more than his favourite ball and really enjoys playing with this with his humans which is a great way to strengthen his relationships.
- Multiple Visits: Getting to know Dave through multiple visits will be essential to ensure that the fit is right for both you and him. Slow, well-planned introductions will need to be made.
Adopting from LU:
- All our dogs go on home trial for four weeks prior to adoption.
- They are trained with force free, positive reinforcement-based training methods. If you adopt from us, you agree to continue using only these methods and also to train with kindness.
- Every LU dog has been fully checked and assessed by a UK vet.
- Each dog goes to their new home with a fitted harness, collar and flexitag so they can look and feel their best when they start their new lives.
