Description

Following extensive research into breed and temperament suitability for assistance dogs, it is my absolute pleasure to introduce you to a couple of the best natured puppies I have ever come across! Brother and sister Goldendoodle puppies from a beautiful, gentle Golden Retriever mum, and a charmingly handsome (he knows it!) Poodle dad. I have named the puppies Atlas (Greek God of strength and endurance) and Florence (in honour of the amazing Florence Nightingale). Pups were born on the 26th December with Mum self-whelping and doing a fantastic job. They came to me aged 8.5 weeks and will be ready to leave for their new forever homes from Saturday 22nd March. These puppies were specifically sought and identified for their suitability as assistance dog prospects. Following their time with me, during which I have thoroughly assessed their temperament, I have no doubt whatsoever that they will both make amazing assistance dogs with the appropriate ongoing training. Ok, so a bit about me and what I do! I have had dogs (and many other animals!) all my life, from Weimaraner, Labradors, Newfoundlands, to German Shepherds and Lurchers. Both from breeders, and rescue pups. I currently have 14 dogs (yes I am that crazy dog lady!🤦🤷) ranging from the tiny (Chihuahua and Pomeranians) to the giant (Newfoundland and Bernese) with a few cats for good measure! Due to chronic health difficulties I am unable to work and, having worked helping others for most of my working life this is a way I can continue doing so within my current limitations. As someone who was looking into getting an assistance dog a few years back, I found it completely unaffordable to source a trained dog with costs of £4-10 thousand pounds the norm, and a waiting list of 3-5 years from the odd charity without charge. So I started to research owner trained assistance dogs and found a wealth of information available. Unfortunately with the good came the bad, and I discovered an alarming number of breeders advertising puppies as young as 8 weeks as "trained assistance puppies". A puppy's potential to be an assistance dog can never be guaranteed and to hold that title they have to have completed the public access test which is generally taken at around 2yrs, no younger than 18 months. This led me to start identifying potential prospects for myself and I am now successfully doing the same for others. Once I have identified a puppy I bring them into my home and complete a thorough temperament assessment over the course of generally 6-8 weeks. Obviously there are still no guarantees, but the likelihood of success is significantly greater. During this time I also work on socialisation and start on basic training. To be completely transparent, this is not a business or way of making money for me. I simply wish to help others who may be in a similar situation to me those years ago when there was no suitable help available. Price of the puppy covers only the original cost of the puppy (if you are looking for a specific breed, this can differ hugely), vaccinations and any other treatments, and overall upkeep costs. So back to what's most important, the puppies 😍 Both Atlas and Florence are mostly black with a super soft wavy coat. In looks, they both take after the Goldie side more than the Poodle. They are both super friendly, intelligent young dogs with delightful manners. They are almost fully house trained and starting to ask/signal when they need to go out. They both eat in their pen and respect each others bowl, and sleep through the night without whining or accidents. However, neither of them like to be in the pen when I am home and are very vocal in letting you know the second you are out of their sight! They do settle quickly when I've gone out (left for upto 2.5 hours, no problem) but can now scale the high pen and I've found them out with the other dogs when I get back! Like butter wouldn't melt 😏 Atlas is the gentlest, most adoring gentleman you could ever hope to meet. He has a lovely chunky squared head and is going to grow into a big strong dog. He loves nothing more than to be by your side and lie with his head across your feet. He loves playing with his sister and all my dogs and is very respectful of them. He also loves soft squeaky toys and is your typical high energy puppy who will go from 0-100 and back again in the blink of an eye. Florence is the sweetest little girl with just a touch of sass. She is as gentle and adoring as her brother and has the cutest habit of standing with her head resting between your legs 🥰 Florence has a smaller stature than her brother and the most beautiful colouring with flecks of gold around her face and legs. She is a calm and confident young dog who loves to play and explore her environment. Florence and Atlas will both thrive in any situation, being attentive and quick to learn. They are well rounded, resilient dogs who will both make loyal and trusting companions. If two puppies could be perfect, these are them (apart from the barking in the pen!). They are used to the usual household noises and show no anxiety. They travel amazingly well in the car, and are eating and drinking well. Ready to find their forever homes from Saturday 22nd of March following their second vaccination and health check with the vet on Friday 21st. I will be available for a lifetime of support to you and your family. Any questions and to arrange a viewing, please just drop me a message telling me a little bit about yourself and your situation. Price is £1200 each and is non-negotiable. A non-refundable deposit of £300 will reserve your chosen puppy if you need me to hold them for you. No payment plans, sorry. Please do only get in touch if you are genuinely interested and able to bring a new puppy into your life now. I am happy to do a video call in the first instance.
