We live on a large farm in North Dorset and we occasionally breed from our health tested gundogs. When we breed the health, temperament and working ability of the progeny are our priorities.
The puppies are hereditary clear of CNM; EIC; HNPK; MCD; prcd-PRA; SD2; STGD and they will never be clinically affected by CT; Cystinuria; DM; HUU.
This mating has an inbreeding coefficient of 5.6% which is below and better than the breed average of 6.4%.
The sire, Barley, is a fast, hard hunting and obedient dog. He has won six Field Trials including two two day Opens. For more information on the sire, please google Sussex Sharp Gun Dogs.
The dam, Daphne, is home bred out of our working type bitch, Doris. Doris' sire is Field Trial Champion Longcopse Bertie. Daphne has an excellent nose, she will go through any cover and retrieve game from land and water. Daphne has a strong athletic build and an exceptionally sweet biddable temperament. This is Daphne's third litter and she is a very attentive mother to her puppies.
The puppies are being reared in our farmhouse amongst the bustle of family life and they will never be kennelled. We take great care with, and pride in, raising our litters including taking turns to be with the puppies 24/7 for the first two weeks of their lives. We will start the puppies' toilet and recall training as well as providing appropriate socialisation.
We regularly worm, flea and tick treat all our dogs. Daphne was wormed daily with Panacur 10% Oral Suspension from forty days post mating continuously to two days post whelping to ensure that the puppies were born with no/minimal worm burden.
The puppies will be regularly wormed and flea treated and they will be ready to go to their forever homes when they are eight weeks old on 01 May 2025.
The puppies will be suitable for active homes or working/trialling homes.
If you are interested in providing a forever home for one of these puppies, please provide brief details of the home you can offer including the following details: your experience with dogs/working type Labrador Retrievers; where in the country you live including details of your property/garden and of how long the puppy/adult dog will be left alone on a regular basis.
The puppies will be vet checked and microchipped prior to homing and they will be homed with: their Kennel Club registration and microchipping documents; a comprehensive Contract of Sale; a copy of the vet health check report/details of the vet who carries out the health check; five weeks free insurance; a worming and flea treatment record; complimentary puppy food and a feeding guide.
Our Contract of Sale allows the new owners at least forty eight hours after collection to take the puppy to their own registered vet and to return it to us for a full refund of the purchase price paid if their vet confirms in writing any health defect with the puppy.
The puppies can be viewed with Daphne when they reach four weeks old. Daphne's dam, Doris, can also be viewed.
We have set up a WhatsApp group for the future owners of the puppies so that we can post regular photographs, videos and updates on the puppies prior to them going to their forever homes.
We currently have four dog puppies available.
