Description
‘Madonna’ (Squirrels sister)-our beautiful lady- 17months of age-known for her giving, faith, purity & compassion. Madonna is an incredible mother figure because she takes nothing for herself & gives EVERYTHING to others. ‘There’s no place like home...i wish’ Madonna in three sentences The ‘Mother Teresa’ of the canine world. If she came back as a geographical landmark she’d be ‘Lourdes’. Madonna is naturally & miraculously selfless whilst being often afraid for herself & that for me is what makes her phenomenally special. In the words of the welfare Madonna takes nothing for herself - she takes no food, no warmth & no worthiness when she can instead give this to every other dog. It’s the juxtaposition of an animal that is initially too timid & hopeless to come forward yet in its bleakness & despair can bring every comfort & hope to their fellow kind. Her sole natural instinct is to alleviate suffering to others. In the winter she exposed her body to the cold to keep orphaned puppies alive & warm. She didn’t eat until they had finished. She stays to one side for everyone to eat first & goes hungry rather than take. While other dogs approach for attention & love she is in the shadows invisible. Madonna is great with all sizes, sexes & temperaments of dogs. If you approach her pen just to take a picture to try & help her she won’t avoid you - even if she’s scared. She has had no luck and she is too gentle and fragile in her emotions and personality to survive the harsh world alone. Squirrel her sister had no interest either then caught someone’s eye- and her ‘future’ changed. Madonna was apparently so inconsequential that I’ve only just learnt they were related. With so many lives looking for homes the blood line is of little importance to most. She’s been there since a baby and is now almost two - she shakes sometimes in her little safe zone & then you see her ambling & graceful form float across the enclosure like a fairy. Madonna is also responsive, brave & affectionate as clearly seen in the video before she takes herself back off to her kennel. She offers the best of all worlds and she is the unclaimed jewel- the unsung hero. My heart fractured when I saw her recently -lying there still & uninvolved-because I thought ‘what chance has she got?’ but then it’s the ones with zero opportunity as it seems that should have every hope of being chosen. It just doesn’t go that way at times. Her fate according to government policy is to end up petrified and in danger on a rubbish tip or the lonely roads if she isn’t chained first. Madonna is neither trash nor feral- it would be like taking a nightingale & throwing them before a propeller. Let this gorgeous girl potentialise the already unflappable, calm & serene air she possesses. Even the trainee vet who sees countless dogs & is hardened to the way of things here said about Madonna, ‘I love her’. She is genuinely concerned for Madonna’s safety. Her continued sentiments about this majestic girl are documented below & I ask you to absorb their true significance. How can a soul like Madonna’s be this outstandingly beautiful when nothing that went before the pound & nothing that’s happened since was in itself lovely? ‘..Full many a flower is born to blush unseen, And waste its sweetness on the desert air. ‘ Thomas Gray Madonna’s details Sex: female Size: medium Weight: around 17kg Coat: short Breed: mixed Age: 17 months approx’ Spayed Passport / microchip Bloods/ vaccines Flea / worming / tick Health certificate Clinical inspection Children if they are older & therefore calm Dogs a mother to all of them Men / women Travelling to the pound no issues Handling - doesn’t react when picked up/ examined No food possession even when hungry Completely submissive Affectionate given the chance Courageous Calm Shy Gentle Adaptable diffident to other pooches Pretty Brave Bonding dog with the gift of time Very good & kind Madonna’s must-haves Garden until she grows confidence on walks or outside space for toileting needs- walking not necessary for sometime if garden large or owner restricted Kindness Areas of choice to sleep in/on Sofa time if wanted Patience Understanding Time Compassion Experience and/or straight forward empathy Space to adjust attention Reassurance Ogles of love It’s easy really - she just needs you Her promotional caption ‘Return the soul back home’ adoptions- choose an invisible dog today. In the words of the trainee vet ‘This is a girl almost two years old. She came as a baby to the shelter. She's Squirrel's sister, but doesn't have her luck. She is very good and kind. She has lived with large dogs with babies and with small puppies. Of course with everyone. There is no aggression in her. She is timid and always hides in her house. No one notices or pays attention to her here, and she doesn't push herself on anyone. Only a volunteer takes care of her and I. I like and love her very much. If you can help her, I will be very grateful. If no one notices her, she'll soon be back on the street, and she's so good she won't be able to live there alone. Until now, her whole life has been spent in the cage, hidden in the house She acts like a mother to the other dogs in the cage. They cuddle in it. In the winter we let her out to small puppies because they cuddled up to her and she kept them warm. She waits for you to eat first and then she eats separately. I haven't seen anyone have a problem with her. She hides in the cottage and watches from there. She only goes outside when she doesn't feel threatened and comes to smell you, she's happy for you and goes back to the house” You will hear in the video that some dogs are adopted, some are , some aren’t.
