Description

Description: Beau is a 5 year old sable frosty mini lop. His DOB is 30.01.19, so he will shortly be turning 6. He is an indoor rabbit (has been since birth). He is litter trained. He has spent many years free roaming our bunny proofed home. He has not been destructive in any way although he does love a wire and a house plant! It is therefore imperative that you have a bunny safe home. He is extremely friendly and loves being stroked, especially on his nose, cheeks and ears. He will give you lots of licks in return! He is very well bonded to humans and will sit for hours and be stroked, he seeks out positive interactions from humans all day long! Beau needs regular grooming as he has quite a thick coat. Happy to have his claws clipped. I do this around once a month. He is an excellent hay eater and will come with his remaining feed / hay / treats and litter. At time of writing this is 8kg of high quality Timothy hay (£25 worth) and half a large bag of feed (£10), plus barley rings and banana chips (£10). There is also a 10kg bag of litter (£10). He is on burgess excel junior. You are welcome to his grooming brushes and clippers too if you need them. His pen, bowls, hide, litter tray and hay rack are also included if you need them (original cost £150). General health: Excellent. Beau was vet checked and vaccinated with the 3 in 1 at the beginning of March 2024. He has been vaccinated since he was 16 weeks. His vaccination record will be given to you on collection. He was neutered as a youngster. Temperament: Friendly, loving, loves a fuss and plenty of attention. Type of home wanted: Indoor only. He does love exploring the garden but can only do so under strict supervision due to predators. The garden must be safe and secure to prevent escapes or accidental poisoning. Beau loves attention and must have lots of it in his new home. He loves children, and lots of noise! Children playing, music and the Hoover don’t bother him at all. We have undergone building work here and Beau just sleeps through it. A donation of £150 is requested to cover all of the items going with him, neutering and vaccinations. This will also prove you a serious buyer and understand the commitment of having a rabbit. We have tried to bond Beau several times in the past to other rabbits, unfortunately this has not worked out so Beau is best left as a solo rabbit with plenty of human interaction. Please email or WhatsApp me to discuss whether Beau is suitable for your family. It is important rabbit welfare guidelines are followed so we will be vetting future homes to ensure he will go somewhere safe, with experienced rabbit owners and will have plenty of space, attention and love. It is expected you will continue to vaccinate him and have an annual check up with the vets to ensure he remains healthy. He really is the loveliest boy and one of a kind. A 5* home is exactly what he deserves to see out the rest of his days and we will not settle for anything less so please do not contact me unless you are able to meet his requirements. We are in no rush to part with him, he must go to the right home. Unfortunately our circumstances have changed and he does not receive enough attention. For a rabbit that craves human interaction and seeks it out at every opportunity; we have to put him first even though it will break all of our hearts to say goodbye. It is our hope that Beau will go to a home where there are experienced adult owners, perhaps you have had pet rabbits free roaming in the past or have recently lost your furry companion and would love another fluff ball to love. You may or may not have children, but if you do they are kind to animals, will not be solely in charge of him and will respect his body language if he says he needs space (such as going into his hide or turning his back to you). They will also understand what food he can and cannot eat! He loves his treats :) You will not have any other pets, such as dogs or cats. Like all rabbits he doesn’t like being picked up but will tolerate it without fighting. He’s scared of aeroplanes (the noise sends him off to hide!) but not much else. He’s been chased by a cat before so isn’t a fan! I hope you understand from this advert that I’m not being difficult and just need the best for our wonderful boy. Rabbits live to between 8-12 years old so he could have another 6 years and it’s so important he has the very best he deserves.

Buyer's checklist for rabbits

1

Be responsible, do your research first

Getting rabbits is a massive commitment, so make sure you have researched all of their general needs, and those specific to their breed fully and have the time and commitment necessary to care for the rabbits. You can read our detailed information guide about rabbits for potential new rabbit owners. If you are looking for a rabbit to keep your rabbit company remember that they will both need to be neutered and that a male / female pair works best. Rabbits are a long term commitment as they can live up to 10 years.

2

Rabbits need a friend and space

Rabbits should never be kept alone, they need the company of other (neutered) rabbits. They need space to stand, hop, jump and run, and safe places for hiding. The absolute minimum space required 24/7 for up to 2 average sized rabbits is area 3m x 2m x 1m high.

3

Health check & welfare

It can be difficult for the average person to check if a rabbit is healthy or not. The seller should be willing to let you take the rabbit to a vet of your choice for a health check and return the pet within 48 hours for a full refund if there are health issues. If the rabbit has already been health checked, make sure you have this documented and phone their vet. Also remember rabbits need to be neutered so that they can live with other rabbits, and vaccinated annually to protect them against myxomatosis and RVHD1 and 2. Register with a rabbit friendly veterinary Practice. We would advise that you read the following article containing rabbit care and welfare information provided by the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF).

4

Report, don’t support!

If you believe a rabbit may be subject to irresponsible breeding, do not “rescue” the rabbit by rehoming it. Walk away and report the seller to us immediately.

5

Rabbits must be 8 weeks when collected

Rabbits must be at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned before they can leave their mothers. Most responsible sellers will keep their rabbits longer than this before they let them go to new homes. Make sure you take some of the food with you so you can change over to your own food gradually.
