Description

Capi is currently in foster in Derbyshire and looking for an urgent home or new foster home. Capi has had a really rough time, he’s waited a long time at the shelter without a family coming forward for him. Shelter life really started to take its toll on him so he was lucky enough to be fostered by some volunteers in Spain before travelling to the UK to a wonderful foster home. Sadly, Capi is struggling to adapt, he would much rather be the only dog in his home and so we’re looking for a new home for him as soon as possible. Here’s what his foster mum has to say about him “Capi, bless him, simply wants to be your whole world. His life hasn’t been the easiest so any chance he gets he’ll do his best to melt into you. Since he arrived less than 2 weeks ago his confidence in relaxing by himself has increased dramatically and he loves sitting and staring out into the back garden but nothing beats a good cuddle. Walks and a ball are the secrets to Capi’s happiness too, he will never turn down a drive to a secure field or a walk. In fact if you take too long to get his lead on he’ll arch his back and stretch onto his tippy toes to raise his harness D-Ring for you just in case you weren’t clear about where it goes. Outside of a walk he loves a good game in the house too and is ever so gentle, if he so much as grazes your hands accidentally he instantly stops and backs off before we start again. He is however not so gentle with soft toys and there is no safe place for fluffy toys when it comes to the Capi-nator. The top of my fridge has quickly become a graveyard for all sorts of creatures with missing limbs and ears but at least he’s shown no signs of being destructive to anything else in the house! He literally wears a heart on his head and just wants a family to love as his own which he really does deserve.” Capi loves to be outside and really loves his walks but he loves nothing better than a secure fields where he can simply run. If secure fields are his first love, balls are a close second. Give Capi an open field and a ball and he is in heaven. He is great at bringing the ball back and dropping it at your feet too! He’s responding really well to learning to walk nicely on his lead and although he can be a bit overwhelmed and full of energy to begin with, he settles into it nicely and even stops and sits down when he needs to wait. Capi loves everything small and furry as well as fluttery. He loves to stop by hedges and listen to the little birds sing for a few minutes too which is really cute to watch. He has shown zero interest in sheep and barely acknowledges they exist. Despite recently turning 9, in true working setter fashion, he has a lot of energy and life left in him yet and would also make a great running companion if his new family liked to run. In the house, Capi is getting the hang of toilet training and settling. Capi’s other love is people, his foster mum describes him as a ‘stage 5 limpit’ when he arrived, although in time he is starting to build up his independence in the house as well but he just absolutely adores being with people. Ideally, he’d love to not share his new humans, or at least have plenty of adults in the house to go round if he lived with a resident dog. He’s come on leaps and bounds in the short time he’s been in foster and has really learned to settle and not be with his human 24/7 but with two dogs and only one set of hands in the house at the moment, it’s a real challenge and Capi would be better suited in a different home where he can have his humans undivided attention which he would really adore!
