Description

🐾 Meet Donnie 🐾 Donnie is now around 1 year old and is a large mixed-breed boy with so much potential, just waiting for the right person to help him shine. Expected to be around 35kg fully grown, he is a big, powerful young dog who will thrive with an experienced and committed adopter willing to continue his training and socialisation. Donnie may not be the easiest start—but for the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion and a deeply loyal best friend. ✨ About Donnie: • Initially nervous with new people and needs time to build trust • Much more comfortable around women, though he can build positive relationships with patient men over time • Can react fearfully towards men especially if he feels threatened or overwhelmed, so careful introductions and experienced handling are essential • Once he feels safe, he is affectionate, goofy, playful, and full of character • Loves toys, Kongs, enrichment activities, and is very food motivated, which makes training rewarding • A very cheeky boy who keeps everyone laughing—he doesn’t always realise how big he is! 🤣 • Still very much an adolescent who is learning about the world around him Donnie enjoys walking alongside other dogs and currently walks well with his kennel friend, Hermes. He has also shown positive social interactions with calm female dogs off lead and responds well to appropriate corrections from other dogs. Because Donnie has spent much of his time in a quieter farm-based kennel environment, he still needs gradual exposure to the outside world, new environments, and different experiences. Without this, he risks becoming overwhelmed by unfamiliar situations and struggling to progress. He will need ongoing guidance with lead walking, toilet training, confidence building, and basic obedience—but he is still young and at a great age to learn and grow with the right support. šŸ’› The home Donnie needs: šŸ” A calm, adult-only home šŸ” A secure medium-to-large garden 🐾 An experienced owner, ideally with knowledge of guardian or nervous breeds šŸ’› Someone patient, calm, and consistent who will allow him to build trust at his own pace 🐾 Someone committed to continuing his socialisation and helping him become a more neutral, balanced dog Donnie can currently find being left alone difficult, but with routine, structure, and patience this is something that can improve over time. He will require multiple meet-and-greet visits prior to adoption, as building a relationship with him is essential. All meet and greets will be fully supervised, with advice and guidance provided to help both Donnie and his potential adopter feel comfortable and supported. This isn’t a quick or straightforward rehome—but it could be an incredibly special one. 🩺 Details: • Vaccinated • Microchipped & health checked • Full passport • Not currently neutered šŸ’› Why consider Donnie? Dogs like Donnie don’t give their trust away easily—but when they do, the bond is truly special. Beneath his nervousness is a loving, funny, affectionate young dog who desperately deserves the chance to experience life outside of kennels. Watching him gain confidence, feel safe, and flourish in the right home will be an incredibly rewarding journey for the person willing to give him that chance. We provide full rescue back-up and ongoing support, and are always on hand to offer advice and reassurance throughout his settling-in process and beyond. šŸ“© Please message if you feel you could offer Donnie the understanding, commitment, and time he deserves—we would love to tell you more about him.
