Callie is a beautiful and friendly 18 month old Hound mix girl currently in a foster home in the UK .Her start to life was a sad one , the usual story of abandonment and neglect but happily she is settling in well to homelife in the UK.
Callie is energetic and loving girl. She loves to play games and she loves the company of both humans and other dogs. At the moment she is walked 3 times per day, with training and games in between. She can be left alone without worry for up to 5 hours.
Callie loves walks and sniffs everywhere she goes! She has started recall training but it is still a work in progress - she can get easily distracted by a scent or a squirrel, so is enjoying walks on the longline, or in an enclosed field where she can run around and play with other dogs.
Callie is a strong and fast girl! Her on lead walking is usually good but she can pull if there is something she likes the look or smell of ! This too is a work in progress.
Callie is great with children although is a bit timid around toddlers and can act a bit frightened of children (or adults) on scooters. She still needs to build a little confidence in certain situations which is only to be expected.
As long as she has had her walks and play, Callie settles down in the evening by about 6pm and is happy napping and cuddling on the sofa until bed time. She currently sleeps in a crate but would be happy in a crate or regular bed. She is fully housetrained.
Callie does like to chew things which might be due to her young age but positive reinforcement training will help with this. Callie eats wet and dry food at the moment. To help with stimulation she is fed mostly through games and training, with dry kibble always available. She loves filled bones and her KONG toy.
Callie would love a home with another dog, being hugely sociable she'd benefit from a playmate or two although this isn't essential. She cannot live with cats as she will chase them. She could live with families with children over 10 yrs old
Callie would be better suited to an active household who will appreciate that her age and breed will require her having lots of both mental and physical stimulation she adores her walks and would make a great running or hiking partner and would do well with dog agility.
With committed owners willing to put in time and patience with her, Callie will make a wonderful family companion and friend who will bring hours of fun, entertainment, laughter, joy and of course lots of doggy unconditional love.
