A little about Ted.
Ted is nearly 14 years old. I've had him from 6 months old after his original owners couldn't look after him. I now find myself in a similar situation after all this time. If you think you'd like to re-home him please read on.
Ted is a lovely caring bird and will do tricks for treats. He loves a good scratch of the head and back of the neck. He is flighted but as he has not been out much in the last couple of years his confidence is a little low. His favourite activities are to destroy toys, rattle his bowl for food and make cute noises for attention. He loves kisses, scratches and being on your shoulders. He can wave, spin and shake your hand. He used to come to recall in the old house. Anything for some pine nuts...his favourite treat.
The reason I've ended up in this situation is two fold. With a young baby/toddler, the dog and cat at the new house it's hard to have time for Ted to be out. Secondly my baby has just started walking and Ted is very protective of his cage and bit my baby's finger. Therefore I can't risk it happening again or being worse than it was, as it could easily have been.
Ted has always been on Harrinsons course complete, the blue course one or during moults the red high protein version. He loves sugar snap pea's, mange tout and sweetcorn on the cob. He has no health issues but has always chewed his feathers since I've had him. I've tried many things over the years and never stopped it.
Ted will come with his cage, food, toys and any accessories I have for him. He's part of our family so I won't let him go to just anyone. It's heartbreaking to be in the situation so I'd like the best for him.
He lives with a dog, cat and fish so he's used to them being around but we separate them when he's out. He can be noisy and will rattle his food bowl for attention, food and treats. He can nip when you're inside his cage as he seems protective of the inside of his cage. Outside the cage he's happy to sit on your shoulder and come down your arm for scratches. He used to be able to recall by name in the house but it's hit and miss now. He prefers men over women but once he's out the cage he's wherever the attention is or his safe person.
Ted isn't the quietest so please bear this in mind as I wouldn't want you thinking, little bird little noise.
I can't state enough this isn't something I'm doing lightly and I'm not just going to let him go to anyone. Someone with previous parrot experience or lots of free time would be preferable. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any genuine enquiries. Please don't waste my time as he is very loved and this isn't easy.
