Nellie is a simply stunning cockerpoo, with her lovely curly golden fur, long wavy ears and adorable black nose and eyes. She is easily mistaken for a cuddly teddy bear, but don’t let her looks fool you. Nellie is packed full of attitude and will definitely give you a run for your money.
On a serious note, despite Nellie’s adorable looks, she will need a confident owner. Her previous home was with an individual who experienced significant anxiety and mood fluctuations, which regrettably affected Nellie, leading to her own issues with nervousness. This has manifested in behaviours such as excessive whining and has been known to revert to an occasional nip.
We knew Nellie needed the opportunity to start fresh so we asked our trainer if she could take on Nellie for a few weeks to let her settle into a more productive routine and get some training in place. So far, she is coming along very well. A potential adopter will need to be willing to follow our trainer’s support, Nellie will need a solid routine, clear boundaries and structure in order to thrive. She has spend a few days with us in the kennels as a short-stay visitor and has been very well behaved. Nellie is fond of her crate, and we would strongly recommend that she has one in her new home. It’s crucial for her to have a space that is solely hers, where she can retreat for some peaceful alone time.
Now that Nellie has grown her confidence, she is showing herself to be a friendly companion who likes to be by your side. Despite her being a “mature lady” she is in fantastic condition and has had a check over with the vet. She will spend many happy years in her forever home.
We will be insisting on a handling session with our trainer before she is to be released to a new home. So that we can ensure that she starts her journey on the right foot.
