Description
Meet Ambrose, a 3-year-old red fox Labrador. Originally, I was only supposed to keep him temporarily, but now he’s in need of a new family that can provide the care and attention he deserves. I work full-time, don't drive and am renting a flat. Even though I would love to keep him, my situation is less than ideal for him.
About Ambrose:
- Playful & Loving: Ambrose enjoys running in fields, playing catch, and snacking on fruits and vegetables. He’s a big, strong dog and loves to be active. While he’s settling down a bit as he ages, he still needs an owner who can keep up with his energy.
- Affectionate & Sweet: Ambrose is a loving dog who enjoys spending time with his family. He’s very cuddly and appreciates attention, making him a great companion for the right person or family.
- Anxious & Reactive: Ambrose can be a bit anxious and reactive during walks, but he’s not aggressive. He’ll do best with a family who can give him the time and training he needs to feel more comfortable. While he hasn’t had experience with other dogs, we believe he’d do well around them with proper introductions. But obviously can't guarantee he'll be good with cats/other pets as I don't know.
- Good With Kids: Ambrose was raised in a home with two small children, and he was great with them. He’s gentle and calm around kids, which makes him a good fit for a family with children.
- Health & Care: Ambrose is generally healthy and has not had any serious health problems. His vaccinations are up to date until May 25. He hasn’t been neutered, but he was given a temporary contraceptive implant in May 2024, which will wear off soon, making him fertile again. Since the implant, he’s gained a bit of extra weight, but with regular exercise, that should normalize. Ambrose handles vet visits and grooming well.
Ambrose is best suited to a family or a couple who are home more often, as he thrives on interaction and engagement. He isn’t ideal for someone who works full-time, as he needs plenty of time and attention to keep him active and to help with his training.
Since I first took him in, Ambrose has made great progress. He used to chew furniture and had some behavioural issues, but with time and some training, he’s much improved. He would do best with someone who has the time and patience to continue his training and help him become the well-adjusted dog he’s capable of being.
If you think you can offer Ambrose a loving, active home, please reach out to discuss adoption. He’s a wonderful dog and deserves a great family to call his own. Please take time to consider if you're suitable for him before reaching out.
I'm based in Mansfield.
