Heidi and Stripes are a well bonded pair of 8 month old guinea pigs sisters looking for a new home together. They have been very well looked after.
Guinea pigs are social animals and become lonely if kept apart, the girls have lived together since birth. They have been handled regularly but are still shy to be picked up at first, once they have been picked up, they enjoy being held and cuddled.
They were born July 2024 (currently 8 months old). Our family circumstances have changed so it is no longer practical for us to keep them, it would be better for them to be with a family who are keen for a pet.
They are easy to look after and super safe with children. My 6 year old daughter has handled them regularly and they have always been very gentle. They are shy animals by nature. Once they get used to your voice, they will wheek and come running when they hear you come on the room.
Can provide all the equipment seen in the photos. Will also give starter pack of hay, pellets and wood shavings. Their favourite things to eat are leafy greens, red peppers and kale. They love dandelion leaves but make sure they are from an area which has not been sprayed with pesticides (i.e. your own garden).
They have been indoors since we got them at 9 weeks but previous to that, they were in an outdoor hutch. If an outdoor hutch was available, they would be happy outside. As the weather is getting warmer, they would be suited to outdoors. If it is colder, a shed or garage would be better. There are insulated covers available for outdoor use.
We are looking for £60 the pair. This is to cover the cost of the initial set up (cage, accessories, play equipment) I can include the cage, water bottle, feeding dishes, hay, pellets and wood shavings. I can negotiate with the other things if wanted.
