DescriptionMeet Oakley - 2.5 year old Toy Aussie. Please make sure you've read her full description before enquiring as she's a complex little character. We are rehoming her as both our health has declined and we cannot give her the time she needs.
To start with the good stuff, Oakley is a very loyal, sweet dog who will become your shadow and want to follow you everywhere. She's obsessed with playing fetch and carries stuffed toys everywhere. She walks well on the lead if you have treats to reward her and her recall is very good on the whole. She knows a lot of tricks including sit, lie down, stay, wait, leave it, jump, paws up, speak, paw, high five and a few more. Shes very intelligent and learns quickly. She's not picky with food. She has very good health and recently been checked by the vet. She's flea treated monthly.
For the less good stuff, Oakley has been attacked a few times and it has caused some reactivity. She's also very protective of the cats we have. For us this means whenever the cats are out the house and she can hear them but can't get to them, she barks. As you can imagine, this can be happening all hours of the night. For this reason, we don't recommend rehoming her to a family with cats (if you have cats and feel you can handle this, we are happy to discuss). Oakley can be very loud when she gets worked up over new people in the house or spotting other dogs on walks. While we are working on this, it is an ongoing thing and will need a patient owner to continue this behaviour training. We have seen a behaviourist and can share the training plans with you.
Oakley was also hit over the head with a bottle by a small child and has since been quite nervous around them. We don't recommend rehoming her to a family with young children. As a minimum we would suggest over 10 years old and respectful of her space when she needs it.
Oakley would make the perfect dog for someone with the time to continue her training and give her plenty of exercise and attention. Although she is very small, she has a lot of energy and very smart so needs plenty of stimulation. She will come with a full (overflowing) basket of toys, multiple harnesses and leads, a month of flea treatment and at least a month of food. She will also have her multiple beds and blanket, plus mental stimulation feeding toys. Price is set to avoid any non serious enquiries. We paid 2k for her, and while I don't want this back, I do want to make sure whoever adopts her is serious about taking her on and able to cover vet care if needed. Price is 700 (listing is different due to advert rules)
