I was named āThimbleā in April 24ā having been considered too worthless to be christened before that. I was, Iām told, unlucky enough to be born in a country where the welfare of dogs is not only non-existent but is compromised daily with extreme neglect & cruelty. I was never āferalā- thatās a misconception- none of us are. Iām not a āstreet dogā as that rather implies I could fend for myself & be road savvy. Thatās not my reality. In the U.K. if you spotted me wondering around the towns youād think I was lost & help me. Itās no different because Iām in Europe only itās a lot worse usually- I was still lost- the only difference is that it was deliberate act of unkindness & no one is going to help me. Iām invisible. When I was abandoned with my sister who they called āBobbinā we had zero chance of survival. We had never known love or kindness though found it existed when
we were taken to the local pound. Whilst we got food, some shelter & basic care & nobody hurt us - Iām told Iām still at risk because the policy in Bulgaria is to recycle us and we are made homeless again. If that doesnāt happen maybe a bad person will āadoptā us & we will go from temporary salvation back to being harmed. I donāt understand it all but what I do comprehend is that when I was reserved for adoption & due to join my sister in England after she was adopted. I wasnāt advertised while I waited to leave at a later date at the owners request. My sister & I did everything together before that including surviving & I was a good boost for her morale & confidence (we can also flourish individually in the right home with time & patience). However the day for me to leave never came, my place on transport was cancelled & I am back up for adoption only worse off than I was - because now the valuable time I needed to be advertised has been lost. That change of mind is my potential fate. Thats the reality & it is never in our interests.
I am shy but so would you be possibly if youād had my miserable existence. Some of my canine friends have also had awful experiences & they arenāt impacted and come right up to people instantly. We are like children & all different. I want to be stroked but I do wonder if youāll hurt me and Iām a little scared. I am not defined by my past alone because faced with strangers in a new scary place why wouldnāt I be cautious even if Iād always had love? I know the person who is right for me wonāt mind any of this or even highlight it- just let me potter about with your other resident pets & Iāll be on your lap in no time. I can transform with someone who lets me blossom in time &
understands dogs - I might do that on day one - maybe week 3- but one things first sure-away from noise- and stiff competition from other boys & girls i will reward your patience & empathy quickly. Just imagine how youād feel and youāll know my heart.
