Absolutely devastated.
We are looking for urgent rescue space for a 6-8 yr old female Lurcher called Charley.
We adopted Charley from our boarding kennels who were looking after Charley who was seized by police for coursing. Having met Charley a couple of times she appeared to get on really well with our children aged 3 and 5 and our 4 year old greyhound Bo. We don’t know much about her - not sure if she’s lived in a home or if she’s neutered etc.
Yesterday, Charley became more and more wound up and stressed and started resource guarding the sofa and her bed and had a few grumbles at Bo.
Because of this we had our trainer out to meet with us to assess the situation and to provide us with some advice. Whilst she was here, Charley lunged for Bo without warning.
She is NOT reactive to other dogs out and about and is really friendly - it's purely a resource guarding issue.
Luckily no one was hurt but we now know that Charley is not suited to a home with another dog. Because of our young children and the risk to them, we cannot continue to work with Charley in case they get caught in the middle of something.
She is a super loving people girly and AMAZING with our young children. Such a cuddly girl who will bring so much happiness to the right family. She would love some little people to cosy up with.
She is currently back at the boarding kennels due to the risk to our resident dog and our small children but they cannot hold her for long.
Please can anyone help us? 🙏 I’ve contacted 40+ rescues and already had many responses saying they’re full.
I’m willing to transport her anywhere.
