Description
Fergie is 4 years old and medium in size. She would like another playful dog (or more) in her home, and no children under the age of 10. She would love a garden to run around in.
Fergie is just a star! This little dog cannot do enough to please. She really deserves the best of homes.
When she first arrived in her foster home, she was a little boisterous over the first couple of days. However, she has calmed down a lot and now just a funny five minutes every now and then, darting around in her happy way. Fergie is completely house-trained and lets you know when she wants to go out or come back in with a scratch at the door.
On a walk she is calm and doesn't pull, walking really well with 3 other dogs. She can be a little reactive to passing dogs, but will back down when discouraged. We believe that Fergie has had some training at some point, as her recall is good when there are no distractions. Her recall hasn't been tested when there are distractions, so she may surprise us yet.
Fergie will 'sit', 'stay', and 'lie down' - always trying her best to please. She is so quick to learn, and this is helped by her love of food. Although, she is rather overweight, and so is having to lose some pounds. Fergie thinks she's always hungry so her new humans will need to watch out for this. That said, she is gentle when accepting treats.
She's had a bath which she didn't really enjoy, but she put up with it well. Fergie loves being brushed and fussed. She's always ready for a cuddle - usually upside down and tail wagging!!
She can bark at strangers initially but as soon as she realises they are friendly she’s super friendly back. This can be easily worked on.
She has had a little go at agility and loved it. Fergie always seems to be open to new adventures.
Fergie gets on really well with her foster parents' 3 dogs. She is respectful to them all and doesn't challenge or compete with them for toys and food. The other dogs in her household are a real benefit to her learning and confidence. She really will need at least one other dog in her home.
This sweet lady forms a bond with her human and isn't keen on being left alone for too long. She will pine a little when her foster-parent leaves the house, and sits waiting by the door. At night time, she might protest when put to bed with a bark. Her fosterer simply puts her back to bed, reassuring her before leaving again. With time, this is improving. She just needs to know she's safe and needs consistency.
Fergie is really going to be a super dog for some lucky people. Her foster family will miss her immensely but look forward to her finding a wonderful new home.
