Astro is a beautiful young boy looking for a home! He is fantastic with every dog he meets, and he’s very affectionate with his humans too. Astro would be best living with another dog/s.
Astro is currently living in foster with a dog trainer and so is getting a very good start to his upbringing. We're sure that his new guardians will initially benefit from his foster carer's support.
ASTRO'S WISHLIST:
- Another playful dog or dogs
- A safe space/room for him to go to (he is adjusting to feeling safe in a home, but it will take time)
- A secure garden with high fences, or the willingness to keep him on a longline in the garden until he knows that his home is his happy place to stay.
- Places to walk that are in quiet, low traffic areas (he's currently quite frightened by busy roads, but can cope with the odd slow car)
- Astro LOVES dogs, people friends and walks
THINGS TO CONSIDER
- Astro is still unsure about travelling by car, and so will need help acclimatising to this (travel should be avoided while he is settling in during the first few weeks)
- he can be left alone, and settles well, but will need things to chew and play with while you're away (or he'll find his own thing to chew!)
- small furries in the household will need to be kept away from him as he enjoys chasing small fluffy things!
Astro is a clever boy who loves training, learning and playing. Once he is confident with you, he is a typical adolescent dog. Therefore, he might still mouth and jump up. He needs a guardian who will use positive reinforcement and calm training to help him learn better social skills. He learns fast, but patience and understanding will be needed.
Astro is a wonderful dog with bags of potential. When he grows up, with the right training, he will be an amazing adult dog. At present, the world is a little scary for him, so he needs guardians who will be able to support him with this.
If you are looking to help a dog learn that the human world isn't that scary, you have patience and time to let Astro take things at his own pace - then he will be an amazing addition to your family.
