Very sad sale of much-loved chap
Dan is a 15.3 X 15 year old pretty palomino cob gelding
He is for sale through no fault of his own, simply that I am now 76 and no longer physically able to ride him.
Dan has 3 lovely paces (see photos) and schools really nicely. He is balanced and responsive to the leg with a soft mouth. He is an enthusiastic jumper, we have jumped him to 2ft6 and with a confident rider he would do a lot more – he’s the type to point and go.
He loves hacking and is safe in heavy traffic (we live on a main road) and he almost exclusively rides out alone. He is very trustworthy and my grandchildren (5 and 3 years old) have both ridden him out for a lead-rein walk.
He lives out all year round without issue and is a good doer. He is currently barefoot with no issues, but he is usually shod. Dan is very food focussed and would be the ‘top-dog’ out in the field with others, especially where food is concerned. He has lived previously with a mare and a gelding although he is currently living on his own.
Dan is alert, enthusiastic and forward going, he loves a good gallop. He can be ridden in a snaffle or a two ring dutch gag with copper lozenge depending on the rider and occasion. In the yard he is completely calm. He’s easy to catch, clip, shoe, load, dentist, bath, etc. He’s not very keen on having his mane pulled!
Dan is certainly not ready to be put out to pasture! We are keen that Dan finds a new home with a suitably experienced rider that will get him out doing more of the things he loves.
His tack, including an Albion saddle, is available for £500.
