Description
Meet Duggee! He's a 1 year old Spaniel x Jack Russell cross, with spaniel being the dominant breed, both in looks and personality.
We're rehoming due to a change in our circumstances, so it's important he goes to the right home who can put in the time and energy needed to help him develop. Please read the below carefully and consider if you can give him what he needs.
Duggee is house trained, crate trained, knows basic commands, and loves a game of fetch. He's also very good and treat orientated, which helps with training.
He loves climbing! Be it a climbing frame, the sofa, trees, or just sitting on your shoulders. He's also very good at jumping heights, so his new home needs to have a fully secure garden to stop him escaping.
He's friendly and loves to play with other dogs. Pending introductions, he may do well in home with other dogs, having started his life at home with both his parents up to the age of 5 months.
He's happy to be left in his crate for a few hours, so long as he's well-walked and has a licky mat or similar to keep him occupied.
He's very anxious around new people. Never aggressive, just nervous and often disinterested. This is the area he needs the most work on, so new owners will need to put the training in to help him with this. Once he has built up a relationship, he's an affectionate and excitable boy, who loves playing and falling asleep next to you.
He started his life in a house with children, and has lived with our preschooler for the last year. He loves children, but he is currently very excitable and needs to work on his manners around them. For this reasons we would recommend a home with older children only.
Due to his anxiety, he will need to meet any potential owners more than once, and initially in an outdoor space, as this is where he is happiest and more at ease.
Any questions, we are happy to answer, and can advise further on the best type of new home for him.
