Simply stunning pair of sibling puppies, one boy one girl. These two shaggy beauties are a first generation cross between a Saint Bernard and a Standard Poodle.
I have named them Bob Marley (answers to Marley) and Cher! Marley is slightly more like Mum with a looser curl to his coat and a stronger physique. Cher is a bit smaller than her brother and takes after Dad with the poodle tail and curlier coat. They are both jet black with luscious soft coats.
Pups were born on the 23rd of November 2024 and have been with me for 3.5 weeks since they were almost 12 weeks old. I am not the original breeder. These puppies were raised outside with Mum and littermates, spending only minimal time indoors. They have very quickly become accustomed to inside comforts here with me!
They love to play chase and hide and seek with each other in the garden, and think squeaky soft toys are the best thing ever! With me they are living with my 14! dogs, ranging from Newfoundland to Pomeranians, and cats! Their manners have improved tenfold since their arrival, and when calm they are really gentle and affectionate with everything. However, when over excited they can be somewhat too enthusiastic, particularly with the cats and younger dogs, and do/will need clear and consistent boundaries. Giant breed puppies often have a reputation of being naughty. This is not the case. They are just like any other puppy, but being a lot bigger can feel a lot more troublesome. Marley and Cher, as any giant puppy, will need a firm hand with positive behaviour training techniques. They will not respond well to punitive training and due to their lack of early socialisation it is imperative that they go to a knowledgeable home, preferably with giant breed experience.
Cher is a real sweetheart and so desperate to please you. She was very wary at first and would shy away from all touch. She has since learned the wonders of a chin scratch and a botty rub! She will come to her name without hesitation now (I tend to call her Cher Bear) and actively seek contact and loving. Cher can become easily anxious but is easy to read and responds brilliantly to gentle direction and reward. She can get a bit rough with, and bully the younger little dogs. Cher will continue to thrive in the right home and could live with other non-dominant bigger dogs or as the only dog. She could possibly live with older, dog-savy children.
Marley is a typical soppy mummy's boy! He adores attention and tummy rubs, and is equally independent and happy to take himself off for a snooze. He is the loudest snorer I have ever heard! You have been warned 😂 He can try to get a little big for his boots with my big girls and tiny Chihuahua quickly putting him in his place! Marley will be a big, strong dog when fully grown and will make someone the most loyal and trusting companion. He could live as an only dog, or with other non-dominant bigger dogs. I feel he could live, and thrive, in a knowledgeable family home.
Cher and Marley are now eating and drinking well; both have had upset tummies and had worms which were immediately treated. They have had a bit of a struggle due to the worms and transitioning to a suitable puppy diet. Unfortunately before coming to me they had never eaten any kibble and only been fed adult dog meat. They are currently eating tinned Chappie to maintain good gut health and I am slowly reintroducing kibble (Eukanuba giant puppy). They eat together in their crate without issue, separately from the other dogs.
Almost fully crate trained, 95% there! They have done really well with this, having been left outside to roam freely around a large yard and outbuildings. They go into their crate happily and are 100% clean in there. They sleep in their crate together through the night fantastically well. Cher initially struggled with the crate and will still occasionally cry for a minute. She quietens down straight away with reassurance. They will both tell you if you're going too slow in the morning when they are raring to go!
They are doing really well with their toilet training and are starting to signal when they need to go out. Both, mostly Cher, will occasionally toilet on a clean bed. This is a form of marking something unknown and is rapidly improving. It is a consequence of being raised outside in those formative 12 weeks and not an established behaviour.
Marley and Cher have been seen by my vets and received their first vaccination and microchip. In addition they were given a thorough health check. Aside from the worms which I had already treated, vet felt they were both great puppies, with no health concerns. They are booked in for their second health check and vaccination on the 14th of March, following which they will be ready to leave for their new forever homes 💜
Due to their age and personal circumstances I would like them to be settled in their new homes as soon as possible. The price reflects this.
Cher - £850
Marley - £850
