- update -
Sooty has now found his home. But If you are looking to adopt a rescue cat or kitten then please message me and I can pop you in my little black book of possible future homes. I am waiting to hear who will join us next. Sometimes I only have one, other times as many as 2 litters of kittens and 4 adults. It changes every day and few end up on here. I ask for a short video of your home and will ask some questions because I prioritise finding the cat the home it deserves but always delighted to hear from anyone willing to adopt a rescue, there are so many waiting for a forever home
Thanks
Rebecca xx
Sooty’s self imposed hiding time on arrival was one of the shortest Ive ever known!! He emerged after less than 24 hours and it was as if he had owned me all his life haha. The video I’ve just. Added is a snippet of that meeting. I think he’s more like 7-8 months old personally. Definitely still a youngster.
And the next morning he boldly embraced cohabitation with my cats as he explored my house. Honestly this guy is special. Despite being a stray all his life he is extremely affectionate and comfortable around us.
He will have no trouble living with other cats or children.
I think we caught him young enough that his past is already the past. He is going to make a wonderful family member.
Hi I’m Rebecca. I foster rescued cats and kittens, help them get back on their feet and find them new homes when they’re ready. (Rescues are full and waiting lists are long, so I take the poppets with nowhere else to go - sadly there are many of them). I do this independently with a couple of other ladies and we use own finances, adoption fees and kind donations to provide the necessary food, litter, toys, vets bills for spaying, neutering, MoTs and medication etc. I believe that every cat deserves to be loved and to feel safe. And while I can’t help them all, I do as much as I can.
Sooty comes to us as our latest guest from the streets of London.
He started appearing in one particular garden regularly with some other strays but was the only consistent and regular visitor.
He had a certain extra charm according to the lady and so she persisted with him, feeding him and chatting to him until she won his trust. Unable to keep him, she contacted me for help in getting him off the streets.
Since then I’ve had him neutered and microchipped. He has had a vet mot and been treated for fleas and worms. I pay for and organise all the above for every cat I foster but unfortunately I simply can’t afford to do vaccinations as well. As he’s come to me as a stray, it’s very unlikely he’s been vaccinated. So that will need to be sorted once he has found his forever (and first ever) home.
I haven’t met Sooty person to cat yet, he has been recovering from his neutering with the kind lady that helped him in-the first place and he arrives at my home later today.
I’m told he has a quirky silly personality and the vet told me she thinks he is just under a year old.
He was skittish and wary of humans at first and I suspect he will need to be given time before he warms up and trusts new people. But he has recently been sleeping on the bed of his current temporary home and is hugely affectionate.
So all in all Sooty is a young man who has not had the best start but has survived against the odds and deserves a long life under a safe and loving roof. Given he’s had freedom to roam his whole first year of his life he won’t be happy as a full time indoor cat. He will need to be able to have some level of outdoor access once fully settled in his new home.
I ask for a donation of 180 for adult males and every penny of that is used as a contribution to my costs of caring for whoever comes next.
I consider adoption offers very carefully. It’s so important to me that my fosters go to safe, loving and permanent homes so I have certain questions and although I don’t feel the need to do actual home checks, I do ask for a short video that shows where the cat will be going. If the cat has ended up in my care then they probably haven’t had the life they deserve until now and I need to be sure that I have found them a far better future or I’m failing them.
Sadly Sooty is by far the only pal of mine in need of a proper forever home so if you are interested in rescuing but aren’t sure Sooty is the right fit for you please feel free to message me. And if you would like to help me be able to continue my mission - scoop up the lost, abused and abandoned and teach them to trust and love again, get them healthy and happy and neuter or spay them so we can get a grip on the kitten epidemic in this country, then find them the home they deserve…. Message me for details on how you can donate :) x
