Cute youngish giant chocolate millipedes (mum not for sale, just for reference)
They are about 14 months old and most are between 2-3 inches long.
Good starter millipedes IMO. Give them moist but not wet substrate 5-10 inches deep depending on size. I use 40% unfertilised compost 40% oak wood pellets (they break down fairly quickly) and 20% leaf litter (most leaves are fine but oak and maple seems to be their favourite. Avoid conifers and yew, they are toxic)
Mist occasionally as they need high humidity. Fairly temperature tolerant, between 22 - 26c is ideal. Feed them fruit and veggies every couple of days (tomato and banana seem to be favourites) and occasionally give supplemental calcium (such as cuttlebone)
If you're new to millipedes, they don't bite! Although they do sometimes poo on your hand as a defence strategy
