Meet Mackerel, also know as Mac, Macaroni, Mac&Cheese, FishDog and MacAttack.
Unfortunately he is back on the hunt for his forever family. I adopted him in April from a sanctuary based in Spain where he was born with his brother and sisters. The family who had the litter were unable to cope so put them all up for adoption. He came to live with me and my other dog (Squid) however we do not seem to be the right family for him.
When I got him at 5 months old he had no previous training whatsoever and was already neutered.
He may require more training and possibly a job, he knows:
•Sit
•Down
•Paw (left and right)
•Wait
•"Go find it" (he'll pick up a toy)
•Bed (he is also crate trained)
•"Wee wees" (I say this to help him understand where he can pee and he does it immediately)
•Spin
•Over (will jump over)
•Under (will crawl/go under)
•Off/Get down
He is still working on his recall but comes back when called immediately in the garden. On walks there's still lots of distractions he hasn't quite figured out how to ignore.
He loves his crate and is more than happy spending time in there even over night. Currently he eats his meals in there as him and Squid need to be separated to eat.
He has been left in dog kennels with Squid when I've gone on holiday and was fine there also.
He loves chew toys, kongs, bones, antlers and licki mats. He will destuff any soft toy!
He is very focused and smart, can jump super high and would be brilliant at flyball and agility. He's a strong swimmer and loves getting muddy out on walks!
Personally I think he needs to be an only dog, or homed with a young, playful and energetic dog. He will chase cats and has nipped people out of excitement/overstimulation. He would need careful introductions with other animals. He greets everyone with bundles of love and affection. He absolutely loves a cuddle or physical contact of any kind.
He will come with his bowl, crate, lead and collar, all of his favourite toys, a 15kg sack of Eukanuba puppy food, blankets and bow tie.
I'm absolutely heartbroken that I am not the right fit for him, he's a wonderful, funny, handsome little man and I will never forget him.
The fee is only to deter ill minded individuals. Serious enquiries will be met with many questions and a home check will be expected. I am happy to travel with him if a meet up is arranged.
