Description
Hi, I’m Ragnar, a brave, gentle soul who has captured the hearts of everyone I’ve met. I’m a 5-year-old terrier-hound mix, and although my life didn’t start off easy, I’ve been learning to trust and find joy in the world around me, whilst in my foster home in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
With my charming, cheeky side starting to shine through, I’m ready to take the next big step – finding my forever home. I need a special family, one who understands that while I’m growing in confidence every day, I need to go at my own pace. I’ve come so far since being rescued as a stray in Cyprus, but it hasn’t been easy. It’s taken time, patience, and a lot of love for me to begin trusting humans again, and I’ll need the same in my new home.
My gentle, playful side has really emerged while I’ve been in foster care. I have a brave heart and am slowly discovering how wonderful life can be, but I need a calm, understanding environment to continue building my confidence. I love playing with my toys, curling up with my doggy friends, and exploring the garden I’ve grown to love. I now get so excited to go on walks and can’t wait to sniff out new adventures, especially in quiet, countryside areas. I happily travel in the car, sometimes I do get a bit over excited though because I love going for adventures. I recently went on a holiday all the way to Wales in a camper van and I loved it!
I absolutely thrive in the company of other dogs – they give me the reassurance I need, and I’m happiest when I can cuddle up with them. Having at least one dog companion in my new home would give me comfort and the courage I need to settle in and feel secure.
My trust in people is still fragile, and every small victory – whether it’s sharing the sofa or feeling brave enough to venture outside – is a huge step for me. My cheeky side is really starting to come out, and with the right family, I’ll continue to blossom into the playful, loyal companion I’ve always wanted to be. I could live with older children who understand that I’m only just learning that fuss and play is something to enjoy and not be scared of.
I’ve been on a long journey of healing, and I need a home where I won’t be rushed, where my boundaries are respected, and where my gentle, brave heart can be nurtured with patience and love. If you’re looking for a dog who will reward your kindness with trust and loyalty, I’m waiting for you.
I am a medium sized dog, approx 17.5 kg. I am house trained but as I’m still nervous I may have the odd accident. I’m neutered, microchipped and all my vaccinations are up to date. I am positive to leishmaniasis, a condition common in Mediterranean countries that is the result of a sandfly bite. I have had treatment for this and it is now managed with an inexpensive daily pill and a blood test every 6 months.
