Description

Meet Ash: The Independent, Playful Rabbit Who’ll Steal Your Heart! Ash joined our family in July 2022, and has brought us endless joy, laughter, and unique moments we’ll never forget. Unfortunately, due to the upcoming arrival of our baby in spring 2025 and living in a small space, we’re looking to find Ash a new home where he can have the space and attention he deserves. A Little About Ash (Important Information for Potential Owners) • Not a Cuddly Bunny: If you’re looking for a rabbit to pick up and cuddle, Ash is not your typical lap bunny. He prefers to interact on his terms, enjoying pets (especially behind the ears) while on the ground. He’ll nudge you when he’s ready for attention – his way of saying, “I’m here!” • A Sensitive Soul: Ash can be a bit skittish and gets startled by loud noises like frying pans or sudden bangs. He needs a safe space where he can hide when he’s scared, such as under a sofa or in his cage with a blanket for extra shelter. • Loves to Chew: Ash is a fan of chewing – and yes, that includes your sofa and cables if you’re not careful! He adores cardboard boxes, willow balls, and applewood sticks, which are great for keeping him entertained and away from things you don’t want him nibbling. Apple cider vinegar works wonders to train him away from your precious belongings. • Banana Time = Happiness: Ash’s favourite treat is banana (a tiny slice, 2-3 times a week), and he’ll even wiggle his little bum in excitement when he gets it! His dinner of choice is romaine lettuce every evening, and he’ll happily recognize commands like “Nana!” for banana time, “Dinner Time!” for his lettuce, and “Kiss” for a sweet little bunny kiss! • Zoomies and Free Roaming: Ash has plenty of energy and loves to run around, especially in the mornings. When we’re out or going to bed, we put him in his hutch, where he’s perfectly content for a few hours as long as he has hay, water, and willow balls. Otherwise, he’s out and about, living his best life! • A Little Shy at the Vet: Ash can be a bit jumpy at the vet’s office, especially during nail trims or injections. He’s more comfortable having his nails trimmed at home, so a patient owner with experience in rabbit care would be ideal. • Personality Plus: Ash has a big, unique personality that you’ll fall in love with. He’s a solo guy – we’ve tried bonding him with other rabbits, but he prefers being the one and only. If you’re looking for a rabbit with a sense of adventure and a bit of a cheeky side, Ash is the perfect companion! Who’s the Right Match for Ash? Ash is looking for a rabbit-savvy home where he can roam freely and receive the patience and care he needs. He’s not the ideal choice for families with young children who are looking for a cuddly rabbit. Instead, he’s best suited for an adult or older individual who understands and appreciates his independent, quirky nature. If you’re ready for a rabbit who will keep you on your toes and make you laugh, Ash is the one for you! We’ll be considering your experience with rabbits, your living situation, and your ability to provide Ash with the best space before making a decision. If you’re ready to welcome this sweet, independent bunny into your life, we’d love to hear from you!

Buyer's checklist for rabbits

1

Be responsible, do your research first

Getting rabbits is a massive commitment, so make sure you have researched all of their general needs, and those specific to their breed fully and have the time and commitment necessary to care for the rabbits. You can read our detailed information guide about rabbits for potential new rabbit owners. If you are looking for a rabbit to keep your rabbit company remember that they will both need to be neutered and that a male / female pair works best. Rabbits are a long term commitment as they can live up to 10 years.

2

Rabbits need a friend and space

Rabbits should never be kept alone, they need the company of other (neutered) rabbits. They need space to stand, hop, jump and run, and safe places for hiding. The absolute minimum space required 24/7 for up to 2 average sized rabbits is area 3m x 2m x 1m high.

3

Health check & welfare

It can be difficult for the average person to check if a rabbit is healthy or not. The seller should be willing to let you take the rabbit to a vet of your choice for a health check and return the pet within 48 hours for a full refund if there are health issues. If the rabbit has already been health checked, make sure you have this documented and phone their vet. Also remember rabbits need to be neutered so that they can live with other rabbits, and vaccinated annually to protect them against myxomatosis and RVHD1 and 2. Register with a rabbit friendly veterinary Practice. We would advise that you read the following article containing rabbit care and welfare information provided by the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund (RWAF).

4

Report, don’t support!

If you believe a rabbit may be subject to irresponsible breeding, do not “rescue” the rabbit by rehoming it. Walk away and report the seller to us immediately.

5

Rabbits must be 8 weeks when collected

Rabbits must be at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned before they can leave their mothers. Most responsible sellers will keep their rabbits longer than this before they let them go to new homes. Make sure you take some of the food with you so you can change over to your own food gradually.
