BULLET IS IN THE CARE OF LURCHER LINK RESCUE.
Bullet is a young bull lurcher; about 18 months old, weighs 27kg and about 26-27" to the shoulder.
Sadly Bullet is back with us after an unsuccessful trial run. His prospective adopters reported that Bullet is a lovely dog with a great temperament, a sweet boy and very good companion; but unfortunately his separation anxiety is just too difficult for them to cope with.
Bullet sadly becomes EXTREMELY distressed on being left and his anxiety is such that he can be destructive in his desperate attempts to find his people. This is unsurprising considering his sad history - he was left behind in a empty home to fend for himself, with occasional food being dropped off.
Therefore we are looking for a new home where Bullet is not left AT ALL to start with. Ideally this would be a household with several members, so people can take it in turns to stay with him. Over the medium-to-long term it will be possible to build up the amount of time Bullet can be left; new adopters need to be realistic that this will take some time and training. Experience with dogs with separation anxiety; or a willingness to work with a reputable behaviouralist to change Bullet's emotional response to being left (using counter-conditioning and desensitization) will be advantageous.
Bullet is fine with other dogs; but can be rather boisterous and clumsy, so another dog in the house would need to be tolerant.
Bullet is fine with children (but too boisterous to be rehomed with very young kids because he might knock them over).
Toilet trained.
Bullet knows "sit" , "wait" and "give paw". Bullet is being trained to walk nicely on a lead - currently he pulls quite strongly. Any new owner will need to be prepared to continue with this training.
NOT suitable to live with cats.
