We purchased this unsexed king snake on 17/9/24 (8weeks old) from the very reputable reptile shop Global Gecko, I am not the breeder. Date of birth roughly 23/7/24 approx 4months old.
The variable or thayers king snake is the up and coming new favourite to the more know corn snake, king snakes grow smaller than corn snakes at just 2-3ft and are not as fast and skinny or skittish as corn snakes, they are not fussy/picky feeders and probably a safer bet not to be an escape artist like the more longer slender corn snakes and more entertaining then the larger slower ball pythons, this is why we originally chose a king snake, this species of king snake is the friendlier type unlike the Mexican king snake who are very food orientated.
A beautiful healthy snake for anyone interested in a first time pet or to add to their collection.
The snake eats one pinkie a week and feeds well and has had 2 successful unproblematic sheds while with us.
It was a purchased for my teenager who has lost all interest it pains me to admit, so the little guy has not been handled since we got him but is content never hissed or looked angry or upset etc.
enclosure comes with everything you would need in excellent condition, includes: 3 hides, bark, branch, bedding, 3 thermometers heat pad water bowl and some of his food. Plus a overhead heat lamp, tongs and a containers for travelling with or to pop in when cleaning enclosure. I have a lot of the bedding also.
