Description

We are looking for a very special home for our dog. Please read the full ad before replying. We have had Piper since she was a puppy. She is now 6 years old. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, wormed, flead and chipped. Piper has always been an anxious dog but over the last year her anxiety has become almost unmanageable. She is now at the point where we have had to rely on medicating her with trazadone/gabapentin and Xanax for her to be able to visit the vet or when the kids have friends round to play. The issues appeared to start when we lost our other dog (she died of cancer), shortly after that we welcomed a new baby into the house (human baby) and although Piper has always got on with the kids, she seems anxious beyond belief. She is living with 2 other dogs and has started to snap at them too. The home we are looking for no doubt needs to be a special home. She would be most suited to a quiet life, maybe a couple or someone with older children. The transition is likely to be a slow one - I don’t want Piper to just be given to someone else and wonder what is going on. I would like her to meet her new owners, get to know them and maybe even have some overnight stays before deciding if she can fit into your family. She would need to be an only dog with someone around a lot of the time for company. She most definitely prefers women to men. She loves to play ball and will chase a ball for as long as you want to throw it. She is not friendly to other dogs when out and about on walks which I think is more fear aggression. Strangely enough she seems to get on fine with the other dogs at the groomers. She pulls on the leash when she first goes out but does eventually settle down. I am not interested in any money for Piper, just a serious person who is able to give her the home she needs. We will be sad to see her go but she is really struggling at the moment here and the vet is in agreement that this is clearly not a helpful environment for her. If you feel you can help please contact me. Thank you
