Welcome to our post, this is River!
River just celebrated her first birthday. She lives with her big sister a German shepherd and has regular visits from cousin canines.
River is a family dog, she is blue in colour and is KC registered.
River needs more than I can offer, she wants to be around a dog or person and often there is neither. Her sister German shepherd goes to work, leaving river behind. This upsets her.
River loves being with other dogs, she loves being outside walking but loves to cuddle on the sofa in front of the fire on an evening. River walks well off the lead, she will often chase her sister, she is very quick but always returns to my side. She loves a good tug and pull game.
This post is about finding the right home for river. It’s not about rehoming her. It’s about finding the right fit so both River and her new family can be happy.
River will whinge if she isn’t happy. This happens if she is alone, or separated. In my case- if I put her in the kitchen when I’m in the room. She sits at the safety gate and tells me she isn’t happy.
She will bark at people she doesn’t know. She barks for about 5 minutes.
We have a very busy house, lots of people visiting and she always settles down. It just takes a minute. I believe this is due to nerves. Once she’s met you, it happens less the next time then stops completely.
We brought river home from Essex when she was a puppy. They said she was a pug and was sold as such, with KC paperwork. However we believe she isn’t full pug.
She has longer legs. She’s faster, she has a snout. We haven’t done any genetic testing, but I am confident she isn’t full pug.
We paid a lot of money for her colour, because it was so unique in a pug. But I dont think the breeders were honest.
River loves to play games, she loves treats. She is very gentle with taking treats from your hand and eats her food well. She doesn’t rush and isn’t greedy, but don’t be fooled, she will eat whatever she gets her mouth on. Much like the typical pug!
River travels well in the car, she’s been camping so many times already, she loves outside adventures and knows when it’s walk time.
River walks well on her harness and loves a big open field. She plays with her toys, loves a warm seat, hot water bottle.
River doesn’t hate a bath, like some dogs do. She will just stand there, but loves the towel dry afterwards.
River will make a life long companion for someone. She is a brilliant dog, but I’m working more. The house is empty more, she is alone. For the first 6 months I worked from home, so she was sold a false life. I can be gone 12 hours now. It’s not fair on her, I don’t want her stuck inside for the younger years of her life wasting. When she could be with you. By your side. Cuddling you.
River is good with children. I have 8 nephews and nieces who visit.
However, I will say she needs to feel safe with you. Once she does, she’s loyal. She follows you everywhere and loves go play hide and seek in the bed.
My daughter will be very sad to say goodbye.
I am working all week, but will respond to text messages.
Please note, I am not in a rush to rehome her. I’m not doing this for money. I’m doing this for her.
