Rocky is a 4 year old male (neutered) and Pearl is around 18months. Due to no fault of their own we are looking for their forever home, we are their 2nd owners. They are bonded and I will not separate them.
These must go to an experience owner who has or had chins in the past, I want their next home to be absolutely forever as I do feel sad and irresponsible regoming them again and they deserve the best for the next 15-20 years.
They have a routine and love their exercise time, they come out every day sometimes twice a day where they have free run of the kitchen/dinner.
They have unique personalities, they tolerate being handled and stroked for short periods, if you sit on the floor they will come and interact. Pearl is the boss!
Unfortunately they are not toilet trained and go wherever, we was hoping to train them but have failed. Be prepared for 100's of poos a day and they chew anything and everything including skirting boards and walls, despite giving them alternatives.
They jump! They have now figured out how to jump onto the worktops and shelves, and will run across everywhere leaving their poo behind. They also fit into small gaps so be prepared to dismantle kitchens and furniture to find them.
Naively we thought giving them free run of our kitchen space would work due to hard floors but sadly it is just not hygiene having them run all over the counters, cooker etc. And we cannot have them in the living room due to the toileting and distructivness.
Collect or viewing can only be Monday-Friday in-between school hours as my children are going to be absolutely heart broken and I think I will have to tell them they've escaped. They have both managed to do this and get in the garden before.
As said they do have their own personalities and are also very motivated by food. Due to their toileting we have not been able to make their cage nice with areas for sleep as they wee in the same spots, most wooden huts have had to be binned due to the urine scent left on them soaked in. They have got a hammock but sleep on the hard plastic surfaces or each other. There is 1 wood house left which Pearl dominates and poor Rocky sleeps on top. There diet is mainly dried pellets, hay and a small amount of leafy greens.
They are used to noise, children and we have a dog and a cat.
The cage is included in the price but if this is not required then even better as it makes my story more plausible!
Please read this description carefully and understand that the behaviours above are the reason we are rehoming them. As previously stated experienced chinchilla owners and no homes with small children, I may ask for evidence of this so please do not be offended.
They are so lovely and used to us all and our routine and we will be heart broken to let them go.
Please only enquire if you are completely aware of how to care for chins and are willing to live with the negative aspects they may bring. I will need to be 100% sure that their next home will be forever as this is not their fault it is ours.
