It’s with a heavy heart that I’ve decided to rehome Yogi, my Presa Canario. I simply cannot provide him with certain things he needs and it’s unfair on him. He’s still a puppy and he needs more than I can give, such as real training, a garden etc etc.
- He’s very playful and loving, loyal to the bones.
- He’s loves nothing more than Tug-of-war, raw eggs and a nap.
- He won’t eat unless you make him work for it (tricks like paw, sit, jump up, spin, wait, lay etc)
- His favourite words are “Are you coming then!” And he does very well with long walks.
- Yogi is Amazing with new people! He never barks at the door if someone knocks, and I can say wholeheartedly that he’d Never hurt or scare a human, especially a child.
BUT…
- You MUST have a garden, if you don’t, don’t enquire.
- He MUST be the only pet in a household. Yogi is incredibly reactive with dogs and all other animals (he’s never been taught that that’s ok but it’s something we’ve never been able to teach out of him)
- Yogi is strong, he weighs 50kg. Pair that with his excitability, he’s easily able to pull you out the door and down the road, but he’d only ever do it if you let him. He’s lead trained.
- Yogi may need a soft muzzle and must stay on his prong collar (I will provide these) - it is for your security on walks. Whilst he’s lovely any other time, when he sees a dog he starts to switch until the dog is gone, so these are preventative measures to ensure You and Yogi, plus whoever you pass with their dog, All remain safe and unharmed.
- He will never misbehave in a car, but if you have often walk, and one time leave him tied outside a shop you pop into, if his lead isn’t metal he’ll chew through it to get back to you.
He had the worst separation anxiety, and it can be a challenge to deal with if you’re overly compassionate.
To make it simple for those who skimmed, He needs a garden for the toilet, he needs someone to love him as hard as he’ll love you, as he needs to be walked with proper care and attention. He would really benefit from some professional training.
