This is Dougie our 8 month old working Cocker Spaniel (born January 2024). He is a very loving and affectionate soul with tonnes of energy. Dougie has good recall off the lead and is making progress when walking on the lead- particularly when incentivised by tasty high reward treats! He is absolutely in his element when given the freedom to explore and run around outside.
He is great with our older dog (11yr old Boston terrier) and enjoys socialising with other dogs on walks and during his weekly doggy daycare.
Dougie is good with children although is very bouncy and frequently mouths (at times a little more zealously) so would be best suited to a family with older children and preferably someone who has experience of owning a working dog breed as this has proven to be too much for our 5yr old son and 10yr old daughter.
Dougie joined us after the initial owners had a relationship breakdown, whilst he is happy, calm and rested when left at home for up to 4hrs at time alongside our other dog he can find it difficult when we leave the house and can mouth and bark for the first few minutes or so in response to this. He is also highly driven by food and will often jump up to try and steal bits as and when the opportunity presents.
Dougie is toilet trained and sleeps well through the night, he travels well in the car and will make a lovely companion to someone who can devote the time to train and develop Dougie, sadly and regretfully due to the ages of our children we have to had to accept that his forever home isn’t ours.
We want the best for Dougie and are keen for him to settle with no further disruptions. With this in mind please only make contact if you feel having read the above you can genuinely offer him what he deserves and needs.
Dougie has a dog bed, toys, blanket, crate, harness, lead and coat which will also be provided. He has been given his initial vaccinations, is microchipped and has been neutered.
