Description

We have 2 ducks for rehoming. 1 white drake Aylesbury & 1 brown hen Aylesbury. Names are Cheese & Quackers. Me and my partner raised these from ducklings back in September and are reluctant to get rid. We decided to get these to hatch & raise chicks as well as sell any eggs laid. It’s been an arduous 7 months with a lot of building and re-arranging garden space to accommodate for them but as me and my partner work full time, a lot of our time has been occupied with looking after them. We understood this would be the case, however since they have come in season and the hen has started laying we have found the drake to become too aggressive toward her. We have since spoke with experienced duck owners who have helped us understand that a drake needs a few hens to accommodate. The past couple months our time has been spent keeping our feathered friends happy, separating when necessary & building seperate ponds for the 2. But we have sadly come to the decision in order to accommodate more hens we do not have the time to build the adequate space. We are very sad to let them go, however it is fairer to both the ducks and ourselves that we let them go to a better equipped home. After a lot of time, money and effort spent trying to make everything right for these 2 we have concluded we are not prepared to expand further. We hope someone nearby can provide them with the home they need. We also will be happy to sell all of the necessities for a low price for anyone who is looking to get ducks, however we suggest that the drake have access to more hens. They are fully registered, as well as very healthy. The hen is an excellent layer, laying once every 24h consistently for a few months now. The drake is fertile and very ready to mate hence why we have had to seperate them when necessary to avoid stressing the hen. Equipment we have is: •Duck house (the hens laying spot) •3L drinker & 1L bowl for nasal cleansing •Drip tray for drinkers •2.5kg slow feeder •20kg all flock feed •Bird safe dis-infectant •1 & half bales of straw •small chick pen •chick crumbs •Egg shaped mirror for enrichment •Other spare Bits & bobs We hope these can be re-homed as soon as possible.
