Description
Unfortunately I am needing to rehome some of my tarantulas. This tarantula is a Chilobrachys dyscolus ‘black’ tarantula, also known as the Asian Smokey Earth-tiger or Vietnam Black. Currently ~4-5cm legspan. This old world species is native to Vietnam and is known for its velvety black or dark brown coloration, defensive nature, and burrowing behaviour. This particular sling has always preferred to flee rather than fight and has never given a threat pose, however it is FAST. At feeding time this tarantula is never happy with just one prey item and always comes back up frantically searching for more! Being semi-fossorial, these tarantulas spend most of their time down in their burrows, but when they feel secure they will come up in the evenings to web above ground or await passing prey. Adults of this species can reach a leg span of up to 18cm, with females being slightly larger and more robust than males. They come from a tropical climate that gets heavy bursts of rainfall during the wet season which lasts for most of the year, so the substrate should be kept somewhat moist (I also like to spray down the enclosure a little every day or so too). They make deep burrows and build thickly webbed tunnels. Comes with the setup as seen in the pictures (20x20x30 Tarantula Room terrarium. It has lots of room to grow in this). Collection from either Hatfield or Maidenhead. Happy to send more photos if needed. Pls contact me if you are interested or if you have any questions :)
