Haku is a cuddly loving boy with so much to give to the right family, he loves to learn tricks and knows so many already, sit, paw, wait, lay down, place, he can also whisper on command, as well as play dead! He’s not destructive and is ok with being left for 3-4 hrs. He loves belly rubs and playing with his toys. He also really enjoys eating carrots after throwing them around the house and playing with them. He really enjoys swimming and has a paddling pool that he uses in the summer. He is full of character and has brought a lot of love and laughter to our home.
Haku will need an owner who is experienced with large breed dogs and happy to work on his training. Out on walks Haku can be reactive towards people and towards dogs. He lunges and barks, this is caused by frustration and fear. He enjoys quieter walks where he doesn’t have to be stressed. He is doing really well in more open spaces such as Bradgate park as long as a good distance is kept from others. He can also be extremely protective of his people and of his house. Introductions will need to be gradual, he would struggle living in a busy area. Haku has made friends with dogs in the past so we would consider homing him with another dog but it has to be a tolerant and confident dog. Due to his behaviour we wouldn’t re home him to anywhere with children or with cats as he has a high prey drive.
We took on Haku as a small pup after he’d had an extremely difficult start, he was so scared of everything and we have worked so so hard to get him to where he is today. We love him and we just want the best for him. We are in no rush and will make sure to take our time to make sure we find the right home.
We want to make sure we support the new family as best we can so we’d like to offer the following:
-Will include 2 months of food
-leads, harnesses, long line
-wooden raised bowl stand
-kong toys slow feeders
-Flea and wormer
-Is micro chipped
-Fully vaccinated, just had his booster vac (I have all the paperwork for this)
-Beds, toys and blankets
-Will pay for a session with dog trainer if new owner would like it
-Can include vet records he’s In perfect health wise last check up was 12/3/2025
-May be able to cover part of his neuter cost
