Description
Cooper is 12 years old and medium in size. He's had a tough life and just needs a golden basket now to enjoy for the rest of his years. Although, don't be fooled by his age as he still loves to play! Cooper is available for adoption, but we'd also consider him for the Forever Foster scheme (please specify on the application if this interests you).
This boy really does have a very sad story, having been homeless for much of his life, surviving both an horrific dog attack and traffic accident. We were recently able to bring him over the UK and get him into a marvellous foster placement. He is learning about life in a home and discovering that memory foam dog-beds really were made especially for him!
Cooper has really transformed during his short time in foster, showing what kindness, care and love can do for a dog. According to his foster mum, this is the typical day in the life of Cooper:
He starts his day with a walk and sniff around the garden, followed by breakfast. He eats well and enjoys his food! After breakfast, he enjoys another garden explore, and loves it even more if you join him with your morning coffee.
If the weather is nice, he quite likes a little walk down the road with you. However, this exercise isn't required every day. On his walk, he is friendly with the other dogs he meets - in fact, he just great with all dogs.
In the afternoon, Cooper likes to curl up to watch a bit of TV or just quietly observe the world around him. When offered, he enjoys a chew toy or licki-mat with natural yogurt or peanut butter.
Cooper enjoys his dinner about 4.30pm, and then happily settles with his foster mum in front of the fire for brushes and cuddles. He doesn't really shed much fur, but enjoys being groomed so much that his foster mum cannot resist having that special moment with him.
His fosterer also describes him as a great listener. He'd suit someone/s who works from home, or is retired. He doesn't need or want much exercise. Cooper is fully housetrained (as long as he's given opportunities to go outside), doesn't chew, is gentle and undemanding and is fine being left alone for a few hours (he just sleeps and waits for your return).
The one thing to be aware of is that he is a bit of an escape artist. He isn't used to physical boundaries preventing him from exploring the world, and open doors and gates are an invitation to wander... Cooper is unlikely to be safe to be let off the lead, but he is so wonderful on the lead, this isn't a problem. He doesn't pull.
You'll notice that he does have a cute wiggle walk due to his accident. He has been fully checked over by vets in Romania and the UK and any little physical differences seem to be down to this accident. He is doing well, all things considered.
We don't know how many years Cooper has left, but we want the rest of his time to be spent in the best way possible. This amazing boy really deserves love and luxury now, which we're sure you agree.
