Please meet Fergus! 🐶
Fergus is 18 months old and around 30kg. He has been in UK for just over a year and is described by his family as a “cheeky, bouncy, loveable boy with the cutest smile on his face.” Unfortunately, some recent behavioural developments mean he now needs to find a new home that is more suited to his needs.
Fergus is a wonderful boy, described as the perfect dog 99% of the time. He loves to socialise with dogs (although huskies cause him anxiety). He is clean in the home and can be left for reasonable periods without fear of anything being chewed, unless he’s lucky enough to have his favourite things, cardboard or tissues! He would make a great exercise companion as he loves his walks and is sociable and happy when meeting new people. He loves belly rubs and will jump high in the air to encourage you to play with him.
Unfortunately there have been a number of incidents in the home where Fergus has lunged and bared his teeth in an aggressive manner, seemingly without warning, but he does back away when told. Alongside a pattern of becoming easily overexcited and pushing boundaries, it appears that Fergus is an anxious boy who is still experiencing puppy behaviour in a large adolescent dog. This means that he will need an experienced foster who can provide clear boundaries and kind, consistent, interventions so that Fergus can learn the behaviour that is expected. The foster will be fully supported by the O.U.R behaviourist.
Fergus is currently situated in Poole but can travel to his new home as he loves car journeys. We are looking for an adult-only, dog-free, foster to allow him to fully decompress in his new surroundings. If all went well, you would also have first refusal to adopt him.
