Karena was saved with her brother from the kill shelter as a tiny puppy, along with several other puppies. Most of the puppies were quickly adopted but karena and her brother Leo were left behind. Karena stayed with her rescuer and has lived for the past 3 years in a small concrete enclosure.
We met karena and Leo in October last year. Karena enjoyed a cuddle with us but when her rescuer tried to put her back in her cell she threw herself on the floor and covered her face with her paws. We promised her there and then we would get her out.
Karena arrived in foster on 24th March. Her foster mum says:
Karena is the sweetest most gentle soul. Although initially wary she soon came round and enjoyed a fuss. As the days have gone on her personality is really coming out. She is a really smiley happy girl who wiggles her whole body and bounces when she sees you.
She has been for short walks around the fields which she loved. She walks nicely on her harness.
Karena sleeps all night without a peep, usually taking herself to the crate.
She gets on well with the 4 resident dogs and is starting to try and play.
Karena is over weight but this will soon drop off her with exercise and a good diet. She loves her food and is learning to sit.
I absolutely adore this girl and to see where she came from to her running around the garden, just melts my heart.
Anyone that adopts her will be so lucky.
