Mention Black Beauty and most people think of the novel about a horse, but here we have a medium sized young black dog who is a true canine beauty! Java is just over two and a half years old, weighing about 18kg, with a stunning soft velvety coat and long silky ears. She is sweet natured and desperately shy, she needs a loving home to bring her out of her shell and help her to achieve her full potential.
Poor little Java hasnāt had a very good start in life. Initially dumped as a baby with her litter mates, she was rescued with them but had to wait behind, as all but her were adopted. She languished in a shelter for over two years, waiting for her turn to come, until she was finally fostered. Imagine the stress this poor young girl must have experienced, spending her formative years behind the bars of a shelter, with the noise and chaos that shelters incurā¦
She is now in a foster home and learning to cope as a big girl, transitioning from a shelter to a loving forever home. She is learning her manners and gaining confidence, although she is a very shy and distrustful of strangers, but who can blame her? Her on-lead walking is coming on nicely and she is slowly learning to live in a home, which is a strange experience when all you have known is bars.
Java is certainly making the most of her freedom and thoroughly enjoys playing in the secure garden; oh the joys of finally being able to stretch your legs after living cooped up for so long! She really enjoys her doggy foster friend to play and chase with; being a very young dog she needs the stimulation of another well behaved dog who will help to bring her along and she must have canine company in the future. She is a quick learner and has so much to give her new family, she will be an asset to any team as she settles in and learns to trust her new family.
