Description

I’m in the truly unfortunate position of having to give up my miniature dachshund, and would be very grateful for your help. He is not getting the love and time he needs, and we feel he could have a much better life in another home. He is not getting on with my 7year old spaniel. Lively and intelligent boy. Very well trained, loves training and has so much more potential for someone willing to give him more time than we can. Would benefit from being a solo dog or another calm confident small dog; Our other dogs are too boisterous for Pabs. Needs slow introduction to other people and dogs but haven’t had issues. His favourite thing is to be cuddled up to you under a blanket. Good recall. Has been okay with being around a 3yr old but can’t guarantee he will be fine with kids. Fully toilet trained, unless it’s pouring rain then you have to coax him out. Okay in the car but tends towards nervousness. Okay with hoover but is cautious and gets spooked sometimes Likes: Playing catch with his mini tennis balls Tug Chasing and wrestling his sister (standard poodle) Cuddling under blankets Rubs under the chest Training - obedience and agility Going for runs with you Sausages Sunbathing Training so far ‘focus’ - focused heel on LH ‘switch’ - focused heel on RH ‘heel’ - standing heel position LH ‘middle’ - position between legs ‘touch’ - target hand with nose ‘sit’ ‘lie down’ ‘paw’ - shake paw ‘spin’ - circle to left ‘twist’ - circle to right ‘wait’ ‘in your crate’ ‘okay’ - release word Would benefit from: Impulse control training - barks if walks past another dog on same side of road, but generally okay walking past people with his ‘focus’ or ‘switch’ command - he is starting to offer these behaviours himself without prompt so has a lot of potential for further growth Confidence boosting activities - interacting with new and novel things Agility: Loves the A-frame and tunnel. Works for treats and toys. Very basic agility training done, no weaves/seesaw. Would also be great for hoopas Dislikes: Strangers in his house Sudden loud sounds Dogs not in his circle - however meeting in neutral territory is fine, barks to start then initiates play quickly Newport, Wales
