MARCUS, FOSTERED NEAR YORK
Meet Marcus, a stunning ginger and white Kokoni, originally from Cyprus. Marcus is nearly 5 years old, weighs about 7.5kg and has been with his current family for nearly 4 years.
Marcus was found abandoned in a department store car park, he was filthy and had clearly been living rough for a while. He was hungry, never knowing where his next meal would come from; he was covered in oil from hiding under cars, seeking shelter. No-one ever came forward to claim him, despite him clearly having lived in a home and being used to humans. Was he an outgrown childās toy, tossed away like rubbish when the novelty faded? We will never know.
Marcus was taken to the safety of a shelter; he was adopted and flew to the UK where he has lived with a family for nearly 4 years. However, a tragic change in circumstances mean that the family regrettably have to find Marcus a new safe and loving home; could that be you? The family really donāt want to part with Marcus, but they now have to care permanently for a baby, who is causing Marcus a lot of stress. He needs a quiet, loving home where he can be himself, not somewhere where he worries and gets anxious. As the baby grows, so does Marcusā distress, so the family have very reluctantly decided that Marcus must have a more suitable home than they can now provide for him. They are truly heartbroken to give him up but know that is selfish to try to keep him when he is not coping with his current situation.
Marcus is a fun loving boy, a very typical Kokoni. He has the long Kokoni body, a gorgeous floofy tail and pantaloons on his back legs, feathered fur on his front legs and crimped ear hair. He is a beautiful boy but doesnāt realise it, charging through muddy puddles without a care in the world! He loves long walks and sniffaris, will happily spend hours on a lead exploring with you, be it in a wood, open fields or the beach. He gets very excited about walkies.
Marcus also takes delight in back-garden agility and happily goes through tunnels, over jumps etc with a very silly grin on his face. Tuggie is a good game too and never gets a refusal! He also enjoys TTouch and finds it very soothing; as Marcus matures he is learning how to relax and enjoys gentle doggie massage too. He is good at tricks such as shake hands, middle, spin etc and finds it funny to walk with his paws on your feet. He is also getting really good at scentwork and likes to find scented objects which have been hidden. Could you teach this young boy a few new tricks and games? He thoroughly enjoys playing!
Marcus will often come for cuddles, resting his head on your leg or booping you with his nose. He is a very affectionate boy who can be left alone for a few hours, but would rather that you either took him with you, or stayed with him. He gets sad when left and is overjoyed when you return, bouncing excitedly and bringing his favourite tuggie toy to greet you. Marcus is not destructive at all when left; despite his unhappiness when you go, he does settle in his bed. He is clean in the house, going out through the dog flap in all weathers to go to the loo.
Marcus does have his little quirks like the rest of us! He definitely has a bedtime and can get irritable if he stays up late, just like a toddler. He doesnāt like to share his food, probably due to his time on the streets when he never knew where his next meal would come from. With careful management however this is kept under control. He will become your best friend and protector; he will definitely let you know when the postman comes calling!
Can you offer Marcus the safe, quiet and loving home that he deserves? The family are reluctant to part with Marcus, but recognise that their situation is adding unnecessary stress to this poor boy. Could you be what Marcus needs; a quiet loving home where he is the only pet? He is still a young dog, with so much energy and love to give, he really is a proper loving fluff-pot. With your help he could have a calm, relaxed and very happy life. He really adores people in the house all day, although like most dogs he will take himself off for a sneaky snooze on a comfy chair. Do you work from home, or are you around for most of the time? Marcus would love to keep you company if so!
