I am seeking a new home for my beloved, Moth.
5 years old, 16hh thoroughbred, ex-racehorse, gelding, bay.
I rescued Moth in April last year after he tore his tendon and could no longer race. I’ve spent the last almost year rehabilitating him. He will never be able to compete again, but still loves, and is deserving of, a life full of happy hacks or light footwork, and lots of love. He is such a loving and cuddly boy, but equally needs a fairly strong-willed owner. I won’t sell Moth to a beginner, you will need to have some experience of owning/loaning or working with horses.
Kindest temperament: loves a cuddle, loves a groom, good to plait, clip and bathe. Great with farrier and will shoe happily (although hasn’t had shoes on for a few months now).
Great with other horses, kids, babies, dogs, chickens, ducks and goats that I’ve experienced with him.
Great in traffic and at loading (although will without a doubt fuss when taken from here by a stranger, understandably). Happy to hack alone or with a group (though prefers to lead/happy as long as he’s not at the back).
His vaccinations and dentist are due shortly, but I expect these will be done before he goes off anywhere so should be completely up to date at time of sale. No ongoing vet needs as his tendon has healed very nicely. No dietary needs (currently on a mixture of dengie healthy tum and pony cubes but isn't fussy and can be appropriately weaned onto something new).
Sad sad sale but unfortunately, I don’t have the time that he deserves anymore due to work commitments and a new baby on the way. As such, he hasn’t been ridden yet this year and I don’t want him to go much longer without. Thus, not looking to hold for months as seeking a new home for him as soon as possible. Sold from field/sold as seen. Happy to arrange viewings or answer any queries so please don’t hesitate to message me but please be specific with any queries, not just “more info”… I’ve put everything I can think of above.
I’m keen to find the right home for Moth. He is not retired. Although he can no longer compete, he is still very young and full of life and so I’m keen to find him a home that can still provide him with lots of love, attention, and take him for regular hacks.
