Xena is a rescue from Spain. Her original owners had her from a puppy and kept her in their home. Then they put in parquet flooring and decided (since they were worried she would scratch the floor) to take her to a very sad place which was basically all concrete and left her there taking her food once a day. Then they decided they didn't want her. I offered to rescue her and when she arrived she was terrified and hid under things. As well as turfing her out in favour of new flooring it seems that they hadn't socialised her properly.
But with time she has now come out of her shell and is very loving with people who she adores. She's now in foster with other dogs and is much more confident. Mostly she gets on very well with other dogs but occasionally she doesn't like them and can sometimes go for them (it's all noise, she doesn't actually hurt them). For this reason we think she'd do best as an only dog although could live with friendly other dogs with an experienced adopter who could manage the situation well.
She isn't great with cats.
She loves walks and we're looking for an active adopter for her.
Her adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing her including transport to the UK from Spain, spaying, neutering, tests for S European diseases, vaccines and parasite treatment.
