📍 Currently in kennels in Spalding, PE12
TROY is not a bad dog. He is not a lost cause. He is a victim of circumstances. He survived the war. He survived the streets. He survived heartbreak and rejection. He should not have to survive being forgotten.
TROY came to the UK with hope in his heart. Hope that he would find a loving family. Hope that he had survived everything for a reason. Instead, he found himself in a kennels, month after lonely month. The cold winter passed, spring arrived—and still, no one came for him.
He arrived strong, 35 kilos of life and love. Now, he is just over 25 kilos, his body fading as he waits.
He has done nothing wrong. His only faults? He is large and strong. And he is reactive on walks on other dogs. Not aggressive, not dangerous—but leash reactive, something that with understanding and training can be worked with. But no one gave him that chance. He was adopted and returned. Twice. And now, he is losing hope.
Yet, despite everything, TROY still believes in people.
He loves humans—those who are kind, those who see beyond his size and understand his heart. He is loyal. He is gentle. He is desperate to belong.
A kind lady visits him in kennels, takes him to a town, walks with him, trying to let him believe the life with love and kindness exists, and she is heartbroken that such a wonderful dog is being overlooked again and again. This is what she says:
“Troy arrived in the kennel in August last year, and despite the long winter months and what must only feel like endless days waiting for a home to call his own, Troy has never lost his spark.
Troy adapts to new environments and gives his trust to new people quickly. While he still has work to do with his training, he has made incredible progress! He now walks beautifully at my heel and responds to loose lead walking—even off lead, he focuses on me and waits for my cue to move on.
Troy is not driven by prey instinct—he’s just happy to explore and take in the world around him. But his reactivity to other dogs is still present. Whether it’s anxiety or just his way of expressing himself is unclear, but even when he reacts, he doesn’t throw his full weight behind it. I can stand with him, holding the lead with ease, and he quickly refocuses.
Troy has so much love to give. He takes treats gently, travels well, and even loves a game of fetch. His perfect home is out there—he just needs someone willing to see past the ‘flaws’ and into his soul.”
TROY NEEDS A MIRACLE
🐾 A home without other pets.
🐾 A calm, rural environment where he won’t be overwhelmed.
🐾 A strong but kind and confident handler (man or woman) who can guide him, not force or fear him.
🐾 Older children (14+) who can respect his size and energy.
🐾 Someone who believes in him as much as he still believes in people.
💔 Please, don’t let his story end in a kennel. 💔
TROY is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and comes with a licensed Brucella test certificate.
