Bailey is a 3.5 yrs old , Black and Tan Cyprus Hound girl, currently in foster care in Lanarkshire.
Bailey is a true survivor. Abandoned on the streets with her puppies she was skin and bone as she tried to feed them and keep them and herself safe she demonstrated such love and loyalty to her babies.
Bailey and her puppies were lucky enough to be taken to one of the best municipality pounds and all her puppies found great homes – but she was left behind. It was discovered that she had mild leishmania, most probably the reason she was abandoned. However she has completed her treatment and now has to take just one very inexpensive tablet per day. Bailey is in good health, her blood tests are stable after her treatment and she has no symptoms of leishmania.
Bailey however struggled to thrive in the shelter, often having to share her kennel with bigger male dogs who stole her food. She became thin and vulnerable and we knew that she had to leave that place to stand any chance of survival and so we made arrangements for her to fly to the UK where she was taken in by an amazing foster carer who has turned Baileys life around.
Bailey has been in UK since mid -January and already she is unrecognisable from the poor dog she was.
She has gained weight , increased in confidence , and has learnt new skills so quickly. Her ability to adapt to a home environment has been truly remarkable we think she knows and appreciates how fortunate she is to have this chance of a new life.
Bailey is fully housetrained. She is familiar with a crate although she doesn't need one and she is able to be left alone , settling without issue.
She has become used to leash walking although she needs more exposure to traffic noises as sudden unfamiliar noises can make her jumpy.
Bailey is sharing her foster home with other dogs and is becoming confident on group walks , and is now showing her playful side too.
Bailey has some outstanding qualities for any dog. She is calm, gentle, affectionate, playful , friendly to both dogs and people, incredibly adaptable and above all hugely loving and grateful.
Bailey's life so far has been one of neglect, hunger, sadness and loss . It is time for her to experiences all the joys that life has to offer a dog in a loving forever home.
Please do not let her leishmania deter you from offering this exceptional dog a place in your heart and home – It is her time now for a happy ever after , she just needs that super special human to give her that chance.
