Description

Freddie is 3 years old (DOB 8/11/21). Freddie was given up as a show dog in Spain. He was very nervous and shutdown but has turned into an amazing lovely boy. He is currently in foster in Hampshire. From his foster: Freddie came to us on a foster basis on the 14th Dec 2024. He arrived so very scared of everything I don’t think he had ever been in a house at all. The TV, hoover washing machine and everything else that made a noise sent him into an absolute panic. He wanted to pee on every item in the house. Saying that, he is 100% a different dog today. He is absolute sweetie and such a gentle soul. He is now house trained and sticks his head through the cat flat when he needs to have a pee with a biscuit reward every time. He is very confident on our dog walks and loves all other dogs with no sign of aggression at all. With all the people I walk with on a regular basis he welcomes them with a waggy tail and goes up to greet them. He is still wary of new people but inquisitive rather than scared and as he is so food driven a tasty snack always helps with lots of reassurance. We have an older very stable dog who does not play but I think Freddie would love a younger playmate as he loves playing with his toys. He is not possessive about his toys but is fed separately on a slow feeder from my dog and treats are given separately as mine is a very slow eater who savours every mouthful whereas Freddie likes gets it down as quickly as possible. He is lovely in the house and loves routine. He goes into his crate about 8.30pm in the evening and I get him up about 6.30am and is very happy in there with all his soft babies to keep him company. He does not whine or bark at all. He is happy to be left in the house for a while during the day I leave the TV on for them. I do pop him in the crate so he does not have free range of the house in my absence again with a biscuit he happily goes in there. He walks on a Halti and 90% of the time walks really well at my side but them gets a scent and is on a pull. He is getting very strong as putting on weight so well so needs a strong arm. He has such a cheeky side to him and every morning steals my slippers off my feet as I have my morning cup of tea and when he is being ignored he will remind you he is there with a gentle paw on the knee or just to lean into you. His confidence is growing every day, at the beginning I could not get him into the coffee shop at all as so scared but now comes in happily and sits under the table observing people . He still has a long way to go with his confidence but with love and attention I am sure this will just continue to get better. It has been an absolute joy to be part of Freddies journey and thank you for allowing me to help get him his forever home. So we are looking for a home where someone is around for him most of the time to help him adapt to a new home. Another dog is a must and a playful dog would be lovely for him. He can live with cats too. Please message if you are interested with information about your family, ages of everyone in the home, existing pets & work hours. All enquiries will be looked at. We only rehome to England, Wales & Scotland. Please note: We are looking for a secure garden with fencing or walls to a minimum of 5ft. We also need the dogs to be kept on a lead, long lunge lead or for people to use enclosed fields for off lead exercise as these dogs are scent hounds & have hunting backgrounds. We do not rehome with children under 8 years old. Full rescue back up is provided.
