This fabulous girl is Roxy, a 5 year old female Akita who is looking for her new home.
Roxy was rescued from the free ads by a family but unfortunately did not get on with the resident female dog so we agreed that she could come into our care. We are therefore ideally looking for a home where Roxy can be the only dog in the home, she has been used as a breeding machine so we think she deserves nothing more than putting her paws up and being the sole focus with her new family.
That said, she does walk nicely with the other Akitas at kennels at a respectable distance so she could potentially live with a calm and laid back male companion but a few meetings first would be beneficial to ensure they got on.
Roxy has lived in a home with children so could live with dog aware children over the age of 10 years. She cannot live with cats.
Since arriving with us Roxy's sunny personality has shone through, she is affectionate and enjoys a bum scratch and a cuddle. She likes squeaky toys but in true Akita style if you throw it be prepared to fetch it back yourself! She also likes to do zoomies in the exercise enclosure.
Roxy is a kind girl who is fine to share her toys, is gentle with treats and travels well in the car, she is just ready to go on those fantastic adventures she has missed out on.
Although she pulls at the start of her walks this is just the sheer joy of being out of her kennel. We do use a headcollar to help with this and with further training and routine this will improve.
Roxy is a great girl who is now to looking for her forever family to complete her jigsaw puzzle. If you would like to share your home with Roxy and receive a whole lot of love back in return we would love to hear from you.
